Here's our best NCAA Basketball pick for the NIT Semifinals tonight, as the Stanford Cardinal hit the Garden floor to square off against Old Dominion. See who we like as our betting pick in this matchup.

Tip-off is set for 9:00 pm ET tonight as the 2nd game tonight as the winner will see who their eventual opponent will be in the Finals. Tonight's game will be played at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Despite being the 2 seed, the Cardinal are the 2.5 point betting favorites and the total for the game is listed at 134.5 on the NCAA basketball odds

Will Players Be Psyched For the NIT Championships?
I'm not going to blow smoke up your backside and tell you that people are on the edges of their seat as the NIT is a 2nd class citizen to the NCAA Tournament, but an NIT Championship is still an accomplishment and still a banner that a respective team can raise to the rafters in their gymnasium ceiling.

Finishing Strong
People were looking to find a way to give Stanford a ticket to the Big Dance all year long, but let's face it, they play in a really tough Pac-12 Conference and didn't beat any team that was noteworthy. Their 9-9 inter-conference mark just wasn't going to cut it. That said, the Cardinal have played well the last two games with victories over Rhode Island and Vanderbilt.

I know how intense that Rhode Island head coach Dan Hurley can be and when you can knock a team like that off, you deserve to be in the semifinals of the NIT Championships. Of course, a 35 point performance form Chasson Randle certainly helped in sealing the deal.

Making An Impression On the Pros at MSG
Chasson Randle had a huge game against the Rams while Anthony Brown was the go to guy in the win over the Commodores. Brown had 26 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds in the win over Vandy. The bottom line is that these guys want to make a good impression on landing with a professional team whether it be through free agency or overseas.

The one good thing about the NIT is that it gives the seniors those couple of extra games to showcase their skills, especially in America's most famous arena in Madison Square Garden. Look for Brown and Randle to go full throttle tonight and Stanford should be the betting favorites in this matchup.

Trey Freeman
Old Dominion, who is coming off of a 72-69 victory over Murray State, must have a good showing from their leader Trey Freeman. Freeman has that one more year of eligibility that Brown and Randle don't have and I think that it's a factor. Freeman is coming off of a 25 point performance against Murray State and has really been a reliable player all year long as he can do so many things despite his limited height.

Old Dominion has won 9 out of their last 10 games and has a victory over VCU earlier in the season and that's a big deal. That said, Stanford was made the betting favorite for a reason as they play a much tougher schedule in being part of the Pac-12. I look for Stanford to bust out with a huge game from it's seniors and cover the spread wiht your college basketball picks.
