Princeton vs. Virginia Tech
The Princeton Tigers travel from northern New Jersey to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia to face the VA Tech Hokies in Blacksburg. Tech is a 3 point favorite in a game that is scheduled for an 8:00 pm ET tip. The mindset of each of these teams may well be completely different. As you will read below, that strongly favors the home team.

Betting Preview
For the better part of the Ivy League season, the Princeton Tigers were tied with Yale for the Ivy League lead. With 5 returning starters and having split the season series with the Eli, it looked for all the world like Princeton and Yale were headed for the 1-game playoff to decide who would go to the NCAA. Harvard (the perennial league leader), suffering with injuries and youth, was languishing below .500, nowhere to be seen. That’s why it was such a huge shock to the Ancient 8 community, when the Tigers drove to Cambridge on March 4th for their game vs. the Crimson. The ensuing 73-71 victory by Harvard, combined with Yale winning their remaining games, crashed the dreams of the 5 returning starters of the Princeton Tigers for their NCAA bid. The NIT would seem to be a hollow reward, as would the scenic drive down Interstate 81 in the heart of Blue Ridge country.

There awaits a hungry VA Tech team, who had no such dreams of NCAA inclusion. What the Tigers will find is a very hungry Hokie team, coached by 2nd year mentor, Buzz Williams (Marquette). With the addition of transfers LeDay (S. Florida) and Allen (Maryland), Williams molded 3 returning starters into a winning contingent. The 19-14 SU record for the year included a 10-8 SU ACC mark. Even more impressive has been the Hokies’ 16-4 ATS uptick since the beginning of ACC play on January 1st. Included in that run is a perfect 9-0 ATS on this floor, including outright victories over NC State, Virginia, Wake, Clemson, Florida St., Pitt and Miami, FL. Lone concern is the issue of going from the hunter to the hunted, as indicated by this small favorite price. With the momentum and the attitude of the Hokies so positive, we can only follow and collect once again.

I invite you to put the NCAA basketball odds in your favor and join me in my NCAA basketball pick on VA Tech tonight.
