The Stanford Cardinal and Utah Utes split the regular-season series with each team winning on the road. Here are the best Stanford vs. Utah college basketball picks based on the top NCAAB odds.

After lackluster seasons, both the No. 7 Utes and the No. 10 Cardinal each need to win the Pac-12 conference tournament to make it into the Big Dance. The Utes are the higher seed in this one, but they have lost five games in a row dating back to Feb. 16. Their average margin of defeat has been 12.6 points per game during that span.

The Cardinal have had a bit more success, winning two of their last three. However, those two wins came against the eighth and 11th-seeded teams in the Pac-12 tournament. After each team defeated the other away from home earlier this season, the major sportsbooks have this game listed as a pick 'em.

Here is our best Stanford vs. Utah college basketball pick (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

The opening rounds of conference tournaments are very difficult to predict. The teams involved have lost plenty of games they shouldn’t have, while also pulling off a few upsets here and there. Knowing which team is going to take the floor with the season on the line is hard to know.

That being said, we are going with the Cardinal in this one. They have played well in their most important games of the season, even managing to pull an upset of the Arizona Wildcats back in mid-February. Of their last five losses, four have been by single digits, and their last three wins have each been by nine points or more.

The Utes are a completely lost team right now, and it is hard to imagine them turning that around. They have lost five in a row, and each of those losses has come by eight points or more. They also haven’t won a game since Feb. 5.

Oddsmakers seem to agree that the Cardinal are the right play. Despite heavy support for the Utes from bettors, oddsmakers are moving the line in favor of the Cardinal. They don’t seem overly concerned about where bettors are placing their wagers for this one. For all these reasons, take the Cardinal at the best number you can.

You could simply take the Cardinal moneyline, but we wanted to highlight that not every major sportsbook is quite ready to call this a pick ‘em yet. BetMGM is still offering Stanford at +1.5, however, the price of -120 is too steep.

While right now taking the Cardinal moneyline at any of the major sportsbooks would cost you the same amount, that should change throughout the day. With bettors backing the Utes by a wide margin, oddsmakers may eventually give in a little bit and move this line in favor of Utah. You can wait to bet on this game to get a better line. Keep an eye on the sportsbooks, and expect very different lines at each as the day goes on.

Stanford vs. Utah odds analysis

The Utes opened as 1.5-point favorites, and they stayed there at BetMGM. However, the line has dropped to a pick ‘em at DraftKings and Caesars, and it is essentially there at FanDuel where the spread is Utah -0.5. With 69% of bettors backing the Utes, it is strange to see this line moving in favor of Stanford.

The total opened at 136.5, and it has stayed there at a few of the major sportsbooks while dropping to 136 at others. At this time, 57% of bettors are backing the Over in this one. Since that is not a large percentage, expect this number to continue to hover around where it is now until tipoff.
