Seem's like old times as the Villanova Wildcats and St. John's Red Storm get together for a early February matchup. That said, these teams are playing at an entirely different level as Villanova has just 2 losses for the season and are the defending NCAA Champions while St. John's is a work in progress. Can the Red Storm give the Wildcats a run for their money as an 18 point underdog?

St. John's vs #4 Villanova Big Opportunity for the Red Storm?

This would be a big win for St. John's as head coach Chris Mullin might have expected more from his team at this point in the season. A win here would surely provide the Red Storm with a ton of confidence and while they possess a spectacular backcourt in Shamorie Ponds (17.3 points, 4.9 rebounds) and Marcus LoVett (16.9 points, 42.2% 3-pointers), it hasn't equated into a winning season and St. John's has won just 3 of their last 9 games. If they're to have any shot at the Big Dance, they need to win the Big East Tournament and that's not going to happen.

For the Villanova Wildcats, head coach Jay Wright felt like his team was getting complacent when they faced Butler 9 games ago and they were complacent, losing to Butler and then Marquette in a 74-72 heart-breaker. That said,Villanova has had a spectacular 2016-2017 season thus far and they have the potential to win it all again. This is a team with quality wins over Notre Dame, Creighton, and Xavier.

The "Hart" of the Team

That would be 6 foot 6 senior, Josh Hart as Hart is a very efficient scorer and possesses great size and athletic ability. This will enable him to get a look at the next level.

For the season, Hart is averaging 18.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. He's not a player that's going to score 40 points, but he's a player that will consistently provide a solid effort at both ends of the court every single game. He's very experienced and the experience will carry him a long way against a team looking to make a name for themselves such as St. John's.

Although St. John's has won 2 out of their last 3 games, Villanova will look to make a statement here and the spread is a bit high, but I still favor the Wildcats in this matchup.
