South Carolina vs. Missouri 7:00 PM EST
This year, the two teams met in South Carolina with the Gamecocks again prevailing by a score of 81-72. This year’s Gamecocks, at 21-4 SU, 16-6 ATS are clearly superior to their 17-16 SU team of last season, whose season ended the game after the Missouri win. The Gamecocks know full well that if they are to maintain any hopes of an NCAA bid, that they cannot afford a loss to the weak link of the Conference, these Missouri Tigers.

In the second season under Kim Anderson, the Tigers are showing minimal progress. After a 9-23 campaign last year, they have claimed 9 victories this season, mostly against outmanned opponents on this floor in preseason action. Once SEC play has begun, they have gone a meager 2-10 SU. I categorized them as a Towel Tosser in my early February article. Since that time, however, they have gone 3-1 ATS, including a Saturday victory against Tennessee. It’s important to note that in four lined games following previous wins, Missouri is just 1-3 ATS, including a 94-61 shellacking at the hands of Arkansas on this court three days after they defeated Auburn for their only other Conference win. We are hardly frightened of the venue, where the Tigers under Anderson are just 17-13 SU in the last two seasons, including 1-4 ATS as Conference home dog of this year. In my article of today, we note that Missouri is a member of the 140 Club Offensive Oafs. This means the sum of their offensive points per game, offensive field goal percentage, and offensive 3 point percentage is 140 or less (exactly 140 in Missouri’s case). With the Tigers owning negative numbers in the categories of rebound margin, assist/TO ratio, and TO margin, they are a fully qualified Offensive Oaf. The 22 teams in this category are just 41% ATS for the year.

Tonight, Missouri is in the wrong place at the wrong time. They are facing a South Carolina team, who after beginning the year 13-0 SU at their Colonial Center home, got dumped hard by Kentucky on Saturday 89-62. Be assured the Gamecocks will be in no mood to take these Tigers lightly. They are a perfect 3-0 SU following a defeat, one of them the 81-72 victory over Missouri, with the other two being a win and cover at Mississippi St, and an upset of the Aggies at Texas A&M 81-78 as 8 point underdog.

With the fundamentals clearly in place for the victory based on the matchups the last two years, and the situation clearly in our favor, I invite you to put the NCAA Basketball Odds in your favor and join me in my NCAA Basketball Picks on South Carolina minus the points over Missouri.
