The Rhode Island Rams are looking more and more like a Sweet 16 team as they prepare to host Davidson on Friday’s short college basketball betting card.

Free NCAAB Pick: Rhode Island -7
Best Line Offered: at 5Dimes

If it’s a Friday night in February, then we must be tracking Rhode Island with our free college basketball picks, the class of the Atlantic 10 Conference at home this week in Kingston where the Rams host the Davidson Wildcats in the prime-time slot on ESPN2 (7 PM ET).

It’s the second consecutive Friday that Rhode Island is taking on its closest conference challenger, the Rams sitting pretty with a clean 11-0 league record while the Wildcats are 3 games back at 8-3. Just as they have been in each and every A-10 contest, the Rams are once again favored in this one with 5Dimes sending them out -6 before the spread was pushed up to -7. The total has dropped a tad, first going out 145 and now at 144½.

Rams A Perfect 12-0 (6-3-1 ATS) At Home This Season

Bob McKillop brings the Wildcats to Ryan Center on a 3-game win streak, most recently dispatching Saint Joe’s in a 91-62 rout on Tuesday. With the NCAA basketball odds favoring Davidson by 10½ at home, Peyton Aldridge led a 3-point happy bunch with 32 points. The 6-8 senior hit 5-of-11 from beyond the arc as the team converted on 20-of-39 long-range tries, well above the average of 29.1 attempts per game (7th-most in nation). Davidson has only won 5-of-13 away from home on the year, but is 4-1 ATS in conference away games.

Idle since beating VCU in Richmond last Friday, Rhode Island is looking for its 15th-straight dubya as well as its 15th-straight home win, that streak dating to the 2016-17 campaign. Bench scoring contributed in beating VCU, sophomore Cyril Langevine and freshman Fatts Russell combining for 23 points from the pines, and the Rams countered just nine turnovers with 10 steals of their own. Rhode Island is 20th in the country averaging under 11 turnovers per game and 31st coming up with 7.6 steals a contest.

Series History, Final Thoughts & A Free Pick

These two conclude the regular season against one another at Belk Arena on the first Friday of March, and are meeting for just the ninth time in a budding rivalry. Rhode Island swept three from Davidson last season, the third clash coming in the A-10 Championship. They split covers in the regular season matchups, each cashing on the road, before the Rams beat a 3½ point chalk line in the tournament at Pittsburgh with an 84-60 triumph.

If the dominos fall correctly, this time next week we will once again see Rhode Island playing the 2nd-place team in the A-10. And I’m convinced the Rams will still be undefeated in the league, and convinced they will cover tonight.
