Everyone already knew that the Indiana Hoosiers were the real deal as they defeated the Kansas Jayhawks in their season opener. Now, they've taken down the previously undefeated North Carolina Tarheels. Tonight, Indiana has an easy opponent in the SIU Edwardsville Cougars, but the Hoosiers must not let their guard down.

SIU Edwardsville Cougars (4-3) vs #13 Indiana Hoosiers (5-1)

Never Underestimate An Opponent

Nothing can define this statement better than the Indiana Hoosiers record as they've taken down two powerhouses in Kansas and North Carolina and their lone loss of the season came to the Fort Wayne Mastodons. That said, the Hoosiers have to be feeling good coming into this matchup as they're a massive betting favorite and they're coming off of a 76-67 victory over a North Carolina team that many people think are the best team in the country.

Annunoby Out

This is a major blow to Indiana as they'll be without sophomore forward, OG Anunoby, who is out indefinitely with an ankle injury. Anunoby had been playing well as he came off of a 16 point, 5 rebounds, and 2 block performance. Anunoby had shot 13 of 20 in his last 2 games while averaging 18.5 points.

The positive for the Hoosiers is that leading scorer, James Blackmon Jr. returned against North Carolina after being out a game. Blackmon Jr. leads the Hoosiers at 19.2 points and 7.4 rebounds per game and is shooting 47.4% from 3-point range. He had a decent 14 point, 9 rebound effort against UNC and I expect him to play well here until the game get's out of hand and the starters sit.

From a SIU Edwardsville perspective, they haven't played a legitimate team as of yet, but have won 2 straight games after a losing streak and just like Fort Wayne snuck up on the Hoosiers, there's always a possibility that the Cougars can do the same.

The Cougars two leading scorers, Tre Harris and Burak Eslik both shoot under 40% from the field and this is a Cougars team that averages 35 rebounds and 8 assists per game. These are very poor numbers and you can expect the Cougars to play poorly as the Hoosiers put the icing on this cupcake and cover them for your NCAA basketball pick.
