Will Villanova continue this season’s dominance over Seton Hall? Can the Pirates win 6 straight games for the first time since before Christmas? Our college basketball analyst breaks down this Big East Semifinal game.

 Seton Hall vs. Villanova

Seton Hall enters tonight’s Big East Semifinal game riding a 5-game win streak. All 5 of those wins have come by 7-points or less. The Pirates knocked off Marquette 82-76 in yesterday’s quarterfinal round. Their current win streak is the longest since 12/23/16 when they put together a 6-game unbeaten run.

As expected, Villanova easily handled St. John’s in their Thursday quarterfinal contest. What was a bit surprising was the 41-point victory margin over a Red Storm team that was basically playing at home.

These teams met twice during the regular season, and Seton Hall was absolutely no match for Villanova. As a matter of fact, Villanova’s 2 blowouts by 30 and 22 points respectively. You can be rest assured head coach Jay Wright will continually remind the defending national champions as to what transpired during last season’s Big East Tournament. Specifically, the Wildcats lost to Seton Hall 69-67 as a sizable 13.5-point favorite. I’m going with the tournament’s #1 seed to win in emphatic fashion for one of my Friday March Madness picks.
