NCAA Odds Overview
NCAA basketball odds have come out with the total for this game at 139 like at Bookmaker -110. For my Wednesday's NCAA basketball pick, I'm going to back over the total because Villanova can really put up some points at home and Seton Hall is a much more talented team this season compared to the last several seasons. Traditionally these two teams have played low-scoring games, but I don't think we'll see that tonight.

Seton Hall Pirates
Seton Hall is averaging 74.7 points per game while shooting 45.3% from the field, and allowing 63.9 points per game on 40.7% shooting from the field. Offensively, they are averaging more points per game than they have in the last five seasons, and they are actually averaging more points on the road than they are at home. Villanova has kept this team in check whenever they have traveled to Villanova the last few seasons, but this is a much different Seton Hall team. Offensively, Seton Hall ranks in the better part of the country in most offensive categories although they don't shoot the three-pointer very much or particularly well. They do have some nice interior play and consistent scoring under the arc averaging 50.1% on their two-point shots. Defensively, they are playing very well this year and rank 29th in the country in scoring defense. The Pirates like to get up and down the floor as they allow opponents 57.9 field-goal attempts per game, but for the most part rank decently in their defensive statistics. As far as high-scoring teams go, this will arguably be the best offensive team they have faced so far this season. In the teams they have faced that push tempo and can score a bit, they have allowed 80 points to Long Beach state, 76 points to Wichita State, and most recently 74 points to Depaul.

Villanova Wildcats
Villanova is averaging 78.1 points per game while shooting 48.3% from the field, and allowing 60.3 points per game on 37.9% shooting from the field. At home the Wildcats average around 83 points per game, but what I like about the most is how consistent they are in shooting beyond the arc. Villanova averages 28.2 shots from distance per game which ranks 12th in the country, and they average making 9.1 of those per contest. On top of that, they are averaging 63.1% on their two-point shooting which ranks first in the country, and there one of the most efficient scoring teams in college basketball. Defensively, they can really lock teams down and have some of the better statistics in the country, but they are not immune to giving up points against quality teams like 72 versus St. Joseph's, 78 versus Oklahoma, and 86 versus Virginia. Although I don't think Seton Hall is as good as these teams, as mentioned, this is arguably the best talent they have had the last several seasons.

For one of your NCAA basketball picks, I recommend backing the over when Seton Hall visits Villanova. On the year, these two teams are combined 10-15 on the over under totals, but expect them to go against that trend tonight.
