Dangerous dogs lurk everywhere in NCAA basketball. And even with a limited slate of games for Sunday we still found a couple of dogs who might bite. Find out our NCAA basketball picks for Sunday.

Mining for Riches with the Golden Bears?
Cal, which just halted a six-game losing streak, shoots for a sweep of its two-game trip to the Evergreen State when it challenges U-Dub's Huskies Sunday afternoon.

The Bears are still trying to find their way through their first season under new head coach Cuonzo Martin. They started 10-1 this season, with a win over Syracuse, but then lost eight of nine, including six of their first seven Pac-12 contests. And several of those losses weren't close. But Friday night Cal rallied late to beat Washington State in Pullman 76-67, winning SU while getting around +115 on the NCAA basketball moneyline betting odds.

The Bears shot 51 percent from the floor Thursday night, of course one of their best performances of this season, and held the Cougars to just 33 percent shooting.

Cal is only 2-6 in Pac-12 play, but there are several winnable games left on the schedule. The Bears probably won't make the NCAA tournament, but we do expect them to get better as this season progresses.

Washington, meanwhile, started 11-0 this season, but is just 3-6 both SU and ATS over its last nine games. The Huskies recently won three in a row, but have lost their last two, after falling at home to Stanford Wednesday night 84-74. Washington fell behind early, trailed by a dozen at the half and never got closer than 10 points after that. Playing their first game since kicking C Robert Upshaw off the team, the Huskies allowed the Cardinal to shoot 53 percent from the floor.

If both teams pull repeats of their most recent performances this game might end in an upset.

As of early Sunday morning the Bears could be found getting +7.5 at SBR Sportsbook, and at +280 on the moneyline at Bookmaker.

Home Dog in Houston
The Cougars, who also just snapped a long losing streak, host the Huskies of UConn.

We thought Houston at least had a decent chance of a top-five or -six finish in the AAC this season, but so far the Cougars have been trying to prove us wrong. Houston lost its first eight conference games, five of those by a dozen or more points. The Cougars finally broke through with a 59-48 non-conference victory over Rice last Wednesday, picking up their first cover in a home game this season.

Houston is also playing its first season under a new head coach, Kelvin Sampson, and we would also expect this team to improve as the season goes along. Perhaps Wednesday's victory can awaken the Cougars.

UConn, of course, won the national championship last season, and despite some key personnel losses figured to battle for the AAC crown this season. The Huskies own victories this season over Dayton, Florida and Cincinnati, but have also lost games to Yale, Temple and Tulsa. Last time out, Thursday night, UConn lost at Cincinnati 70-58, shooting just 33 percent from the floor, whiffing on the cover as five-point dogs.

On the whole Connecticut is 11-8 SU this season, 6-10 ATS, only 4-3 in AAC play, and 0-5 ATS over its last five games. It's also 0-3 both SU and ATS in its last three road contests.

Houston's main problem this season has been throwing the ball in the hole. As a team the Cougars are only shooting 39 percent from the floor. But they won last time out shooting just 42 percent, and if they could bump that to, say, 45 percent today, they could make this one interesting.

As of early Sunday morning Houston was getting 8.5 points for today's game at 5Dimes, and +365 on the moneyline at 5Dimes.
