We're going to stay out West as the Gonzaga and St. Mary's connection has been cashing in on a regular basis. The Gaels have come on like gangbusters late in the season as their defense has been a major force. Tonight, St. Mary's hosts the Santa Clara Broncos in a game in which St. Mary's possesses a ton of momentum. 14 points seems like a low number. Will the Gaels cover the spread and finish out their regular season with a boom?

Santa Clara vs #20 St. Mary's A Sleeper at the Big Dance?

I'm looking long term as we know that St. Mary's is clearly the 2nd best team in the WCC with 2 of their 3 losses on the season coming to Gonzaga. St. Mary's has played just as well as Gonzaga has and points have been difficult to come by for their opponents.

In their last 6 games, they've held 4 opponents to under 50 points while holding San Diego to a mere 27 points! The Gaels, just like Gonzaga, are also coming off of a very convincing victory against Pepperdine, 78-49. With 6 foot 11, 255 pound junior Jock Landale leading the way offensively, this game appears to be a lopsided matchup; one in which St. Mary's should cover.

Jock Landale

Landale has been a consistent force for the Gaels all season long, averaging 16.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Remember, St. Mary's doesn't have to average 90 points per game to be effective with the defense that they possess. However, Landale is coming off of a strong 23 point, 14 rebound, 2 block effort against Pepperdine in which he shot 10 of 14 from the field.

I don't think that we need to go any further as momentum also play's a role in this game and I'm a bit surprised that the Gaels are a mere 14 point betting favorite. This appears to be a gift for the bettors. Make St. Mary's your play as you look to build your bankroll even further.
