San Jose State only won 6 games last year, so this season has been a huge step in the right direction with them doubling their win total SU. The run for the young team likely ends here though, as they match up with a seasoned Utah State team in the Mountain West Conference Tournament.

San Jose State vs Utah State

Utah State limps into the Mountain West Conference tournament after a straight up loss to cellar dwelling UNLV as a 4.5-point favorite last week. They had been doing well ATS before that point though, as the Aggies were 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine coming into UNLV. One of those ATS wins was against San Jose State on the road as a 2-point underdog. The Aggies held a 10-point lead for much of that game, even with San Jose State hitting 12-21 shots from beyond the arc. I like the Aggies to bounce back here.

In the absence of lottery pick players on the roster, I’m ok siding with a squad riding a senior leader in his last run. In this case, 6’ 9” senior forward, Jalen Moore, leads the Aggies with 16.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. He only scored 15 points in the first matchup, while his freshmen guards exceeding 20 points each. I like the dual threat that Moore and his outside shooters present in this matchup, and if San Jose State can’t win after shooting 57.1% from 3-point range they won’t win here. I’m taking Utah State -4 over at 5Dimes as one of my Wednesday college basketball picks.
