The #1 team in the land, the Gonzaga Bulldogs remain the team to beat as they've dominated all season long without a single loss. The Bulldogs have also been a bettor's best friend as they're a whopping 18-4-1 ATS. While I've been tailing them the entire time, it's not too late to tail now or isn't it? Tonight, the Zags will be facing the San Francisco Dons and at 18-9 the Dons are a 22 point betting underdog.

Expanding the Odds

At this point, most bettors have finally come to the conclusion that Gonzaga is the bet, but odds makers are looking to see just how far the bettor will go as the Bulldogs are a massive 22 point favorite against the Dons, who are a better than average basketball team.

I have no doubt that Gonzaga will win this game, but is it time to fade them is the question? Sooner or later, they won't be able to cover these large numbers, especially against an 18-9 squad such as San Francisco.

Granted, the WCC is a weak conference with the exception of Gonzaga and St. Mary's, but San Francisco has won 7 out of their last 9 games. That said, Gonzaga and San Francisco have met before with Gonzaga coming out on top 95-80.

There's nothing overwhelming about San Francisco. This is a team that's quite deep, but there's no Nigel Williams- Goss on this squad. San Francisco's 2 top scorers in Ronnie Boyce (13.9 points, 4.4 rebounds) and Charles Minlend (10.2 points per game) barely see 20 minutes of action as there's frequent substitutions going on during the game. Both top scorers haven't played well lately despite San Francisco's recent success. The energy of the Dons is what's led to their success, but facing Gonzaga will be a tall order.

In Gonzaga's last game, they were put to the test by one of the best defenses in the country in the St. Mary's Gaels and although the Gaels kept this game competitive,Gonzaga was able to pull away as the 4 point road favorite and on to their next test. Przemek Karnowski and Johnathan Williams took some of the pressure off of Nigel Williams-Goss as the duo combined for 36 points and 18 rebounds on 16 of 22 shooting from the field. This team is more than a one trick pony as they won without Williams-Goss a couple of games ago.

Until proven otherwise, I'm going to keep riding the Gonzaga bandwagon and 22 points is a lot to lay, but Gonzaga is the play.
