One of the big games of the night is the matchup between the Gonzaga Bulldogs and the St. Mary's Gaels. Are the Gaels up for the task as Gonzaga has dominated this rivalry recently outright and against the spread. Gonzaga looks to keep the ball rolling as they've been unbeatable this season. Is this the year that Gonzaga get's it done and wins an NCAA Title? We shall see.

#21 St. Mary's Gaels (15-1) vs #5 Gonzaga Bulldogs (16-0)   St. Mary's Big Chance?

A win over Gonzaga would certainly look good on the Gaels resume come tournament time, but this has been a rivalry that Gonzaga has owned. Gonzaga thrives as a team during the regular season and usually fizzles out during the NCAA Tournament. This Gonzaga team has given the fans and bettors no indication that they will "fizzle out" this season as they've been winning game after game by double digits. I'm proud to say that I've been tailing the Bulldogs and they're a red hot 11-2 ATS. That said, St. Mary's has also been a good bet this season, sporting an 8-4-1 mark ATS.

Despite strength of schedule being a weakeness for St. Mary's, they've also managed to mow down their opponents, are on a 9 game winning streak, and are coming off of a 74-33 win over the Portland Pilots on the road. Gonzaga could have their hands full with St. Mary's as they look to retain an unblemished record.

Flying High

In their 74-33 victory over Portland, the Gaels outscored Portland 37-9 in the first half alone as they held Portland to a mere 25% from the field. This is a Portland Pilots team that was 9-6 coming into this matchup and aside from their winning streak, this game will provide the Gaels with a ton of momentum and confidence as they face Gonzaga.

One player to focus on in this game is Jock Landale as he's basically carried St. Mary's all season long offensively. Landale is averaging 17.8 points and 9.7 rebounds per game this season. He's a ferocious two-way player.

Landale is coming off of just 8 points in 23 minutes due to the game against Portland being a blowout, but he still contributed with 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks. Not to mention, junior forward, Calvin Hermanson is coming off of a huge 27 point effort in which he drained 5 -3 pointers against Portland. St. Mary's will need Hermanson to step up in tonight's game for the Gaels to have any chance of upsetting or even being competitive with Gonzaga.

For Gonzaga, this is a team that averages 86 points and 41 rebounds per game behind the combination of transfer Nigel Williams-Goss (15 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists) and 7 foot 1, 300 pound center, Przemek Karnowski. Karnowski is sure to be a force in the middle with a nice offensive touch and his pure mass.

Normally, I tail Gonzaga, but I love the way that St. Mary's is coming into this game. Take the Gaels and the points.
