The Rider Broncs, who have won 3 straight games, have clearly had the more successful season than their opponents tonight in the Manhattan Jaspers. In the MAAC, the home team get's the benefit of the doubt as this game is dead even where the odds are concerned. Is this the gem that it appears to be in favor of Rider?

Rider Broncs (11-5) vs Manhattan Jaspers (6-11)

Home Team Gets the Respect

In my opinion, not much importance is placed on records as long as a team isn't winless or at the bottom of their respective division. It paid off for me yesterday when I faded USC as they were defeated by the Utah Utes, but in this case, Rider is the far superior team and all they have to do is win the game from a betting perspective.

While Manhattan is coming off of a 78-69 victory over Niagara, Niagara is a 5-12 squad and the Jaspers have lost 3 out of their last 4 games. The level of oppositions raises in this matchup and it will be an uphill climb for Manhattan to come up with the "W".

Not Much To Cheer About

The only way that Manhattan will have anything to look forward to is if they win the conference championship and get an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament and that's nearly impossible as they reside in the basement of the MAAC. On a positive note, Zavier Turner has had back to back 20 plus point efforts in his last 2 games averaging 6 assists per game. If this game is indeed close,  Manhattan will have the basketball in Turner's hands as he's a 91.9% shooter from the free throw line and is coming off of an 11 of 12 performance from the line against Niagara. Turner must play well for Manhattan to have a chance at being competitive in this game.

Where Rider is concerned, they win in a collective team effort with frequent substitutions and no legitimate go to guy. They're a strong rebounding team and senior forward Kahlil Thomas will be a key player in this game as he's played quite well as of late. Aside from averaging a near double-double for the season, Thomas is averaging 16 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 3 assists per game. Thomas is a two way player that's very effective on the defensive end of the court and Manhattan won't have an answer for him.

Rider looks like an absolute steal in this spot.
