One of the semifinals of the Hall of Fame Tipoff will feature Purdue up against Old Dominion, both of whom are undefeated this season. Who will cover the NCAA odds for us this afternoon?

Odds Overview
Both teams may be unbeaten, but the Boilermakers are the ones getting the love from oddsmakers in this matchup. The college basketball odds board show Purdue favored by 7.5 points for this game on a neutral court in Connecticut. The total is currently trading at 137 points, which is right in line with what we were expecting.

Purdue Boilermakers
It's been a walk in the park for the Boilermakers in their first three games, as they've dominated North Carolina A&T, Vermont and Incarnate Wood, all of whom they beat by at least 35 points. We can safely assume today's game will be the most competitive they'll have faced early on this season.

Despite the small sample size, we can still get a good idea of just how talented Purdue is. The Boilermakers have five different players average in double figures when it comes to points scored, and that doesn't include A.J. Hammons, who recently returned after sitting out the team's first two games. Isaac Hayes, Rapheal Davis, Vince Edwards, Kendall Stephens and Caleb Swanigan have all been contributing solid numbers for the squad thus far, and the rich only get richer with Hammons now back in the mix too.

We're interested to see how Purdue holds up against the stiffer competition here in the semi-finals, but their sheer talent and length inside is likely going to cause massive problems for the smaller Monarchs.

Old Dominion Monarchs
Just like the Boilermakers, ODU has managed to start the season off strong, reeling off big wins over Niagara, Buffalo and Morgan State. All three victories have come by one-sided scorelines, meaning the Monarchs have been getting it done on both ends of the court leading into the weekend.

Trey Freeman and Aaron Bacote have been the team's primary scoring options, with Freeman putting up 17.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game and Bacote averaging 16.3 points. Brandon Stith, Ahmad Caver, Nik Biberaj, Denzell Taylor and Jordan Baker all logging at least 20 minutes of court time a game. Stith and Taylor have been the team's biggest presences on the glass and will need to have an impact this afternoon.

Overall, we see Old Dominion averaging 74.3 points per game, which ranks them 203rd in the nation, but they've been excellent defensively, allowing just 52.0 points a contest, the seventh-best mark. That's great and all, but we haven't seen the Monarchs play a team as good as Purdue, so we don't want to read into those numbers too much.

NCAA Basketball Pick
Though the Monarchs are off to a nice start, we just don't think they'll be able to match Purdue talent-wise here on Saturday afternoon.

This is one of the more talented Boilmermakers team we've seen in a while, and we think they'll be up for the challenge and move on to the finals of the Tipoff. Hammons is back, and though he's expected to remain in a reserve role for now, it's only a matter of time before he's back in the starting lineup. Either way, his presence on the court adds yet another dimension to an already dangerous Purdue squad.

Old Dominion has taken care of business so far, but we see them falling short in this one. The Boilermakers have at least six or seven different guys that can carry the scoring load, making them one of the deepest programs out there. Back Purdue  as the college basketball pick to move on in style and cover the number on the neutral court.
