With a very small slate for a Monday of NCAA basketball, there's profit available for the taking with two desirable matchups in which we think that we can provide the bettor with the edge. Here are your NCAA basketball picks of the day for Monday.

Butler Bulldogs (6-0) At Utah Utes (4-0)

In a game that's expected to come down to the wire, Butler is a 1.5-point betting favorite on NCAAB odds. Having gone a perfect 6-0, the Bulldogs look to extended the unbeaten record but in their way is a Utes team that has also yet to lose.

Big Win For The Bulldogs

The Bulldogs come into this game with major momentum as they took down No. 8 Arizona in a thriller, 69-65. That win will look good on the Bulldogs' resume come NCAA Tournament time. Butler comes into this one with a ton of momentum and the oddsmakers got it right as they've faced stiffer competition than the Utes. Utah will really have its hands full in this matchup.

This is a very deep Bulldogs squad led by Kelan Martin (16.2 points, 4.2 rebounds). The Bulldogs average 80 points per contest, and if there's any weakness to their game they're not a strong rebounding club. averaging a mere 32 boards per game.

As for Martin, he's a reliable player the Bulldogs can count on. He had a very strong sophomore campaign and it has carried over to his junior year. He played well against Arizona as he shot 7 of 13 from the field for 16 points and 3 rebounds. He's not an efficient 3-point shooter, but is reliable from the charity stripe, and in a game that's expected to be close a team can't have enough good free-throw shooters. Look for Martin to play well along with senior Andrew Charbascz, who will bring a defensive presence. Charbascz is averaging 8.5 rebounds in his last 2 games and also played well against Arizona.

"Mr. Double-Double"

The Utes do have a strong rebounding club, averaging 54 per game. Even though the level of competition hasn't been strong, this can provide problems for Butler. On the top of Utah's list is leading scorer and rebounder, Kyle Kuzma.

His numbers are a bit deceptive as he had 19 rebounds in the season opener against very weak competition, but Kuzma does bring a presence in the paint and possesses a strong overall game. He's coming off of an 18 point effort against UC Riverside, and I look for him to provide problems for the Bulldogs.

Boise State Broncos (3-2) At No. 13 Oregon Ducks (4-2)

Having been defeated by a very good Baylor team and being upset by an underachieving Georgetown team, the Ducks come into this game still being respected as a member of the AP Top 25. In their way is an average Broncos team. That said, have the Ducks done enough to warrant being a 17-point betting favorite? In a matchup in which the Ducks are the clear favorites, it doesn't come down to whether they win but cover the spread.

Chris Boucher

The 6-foot-10 senior is the go to guy on Oregon and this team's fate hinges upon his play. He had a poor shooting game against Georgetown and the Ducks were upset. Luckily for Oregon, Boucher has gotten his game together as he's coming off of a huge 21-point, 5-rebound, 3-steal effort in the Ducks' 79-69 victory over UConn. Boucher was also 5 of 7 from beyond the arc. He's a multi-faceted player who has size, can shoot from the outside, command respect in the paint and force turnovers. Look for Oregon's best player to play well against a team that can't stop him defensively.

I would rather focus on the reasons that the Ducks can cover the spread rather than the ineptitude of the Broncos as an overall team. Another key component to the Ducks machine is junior forward Jordan Bell. The Ducks have big athletic players such as Bell and Boucher who can be a nightmare on defense for the opponent. Bell is coming off of a strong overall game against UConn, and for the season he's averaging  8.3 rebounds, 3 blocks and 1.2 steals to go along with his 11.2 points per game. He's a difference-maker that the stat sheet doesn't always indicate.

Even though the odds appear quite high for a team that has gotten off to a somewhat slow start to the season, they're placed at 17 for a reason -- and don't be afraid of the high number.
