Notre Dame was dealt some bad news when it lost Braeden Shrewsberry for the season, one of three players averaging 14 points per game. But it has rallied well, going 3-2 over the final five games of the regular season, including a win over Pittsburgh.

The most impressive part of the win over the Panthers was that the Fighting Irish were also without guard Matt Allocco. Notre Dame’s depth was on display with nine players playing 10 or more minutes.

This would be a more confident four-star play if Notre Dame was not coming off a grueling four-overtime home win against California on Saturday. 

But I still trust head coach Micah Shrewsberry in a tournament setting. His Penn State and Notre Dame teams are 3-0 SU in their first conference tournament games over the last three years, winning by an average of 5.3 points per game.
