Friday night in Piscataway, the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers will attempt to right the ship and knock off number nine ranked Wisconsin. Rutgers is a team that started fast, going 6-0 to begin the 2020-2021 campaign, but has since come back to Earth going 1-3 in their last four contests. Wisconsin, sits at 10-3 on the season, yet is coming off an embarrassing 77-54 loss to Michigan. This is an important game for both teams as they both look to get right in this spot.
Wisconsin Badgers vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knights

Can The Badgers Finally Break Through in Piscataway?
The Wisconsin Badgers have visited Rutgers three times since Rutgers joined the Big Ten conference and they have lost all three of those games. “The RAC” as their home floor is affectionately called, has been rather unkind to the visitors from Madison. The Badgers will look to change that trend led by the likes of D’Mitrik Trice, Brad Davison, and Micah Potter. The Badgers play strong defense and shoot the ball well. However, the problem with relying on shooters as much as they do comes when the shots aren’t falling, as they weren’t against the Wolverines last time out. If that happens again, it could be a very long night for the ninth ranked Badgers in New Jersey.
The Scarlet Knights are an interesting team when it comes to sports betting. According to SBR College Basketball lines, they are 2-3 ATS in their last five.
How Good Is Rutgers Really?
This has been a tale of two seasons for the Scarlet Knights. They started out hot and then got him hard with the injury bug and it has cost them dearly in the four games since. The benefit for Rutgers at the moment is that this is likely the healthiest they’ve been in a few weeks. This is also a veteran led team. I don’t expect this team to panic or fold to the defensive pressure of Wisconsin. Rather, I expect them to know and understand the significance of this game in their building. I expect them to want to turn their season around tonight, at home, against Wisconsin, especially with Jacob Young and Ron Harper, Jr. back to, or close to, full strength.
While the Badgers are quite obviously one of the best teams in the Big Ten, they are only 1-3 ATS in their last four contests according to SBR College Basketball odds.
I am expecting a fantastic Big 10 game in New Jersey on Friday night. Rutgers caught a lot of headlines for the way they started the season, but have had unfortunate injury issues they have had to deal with. Wisconsin has been very solid thus far in the year, except there are reasons to have a pause, namely the complete collapse against Michigan last time out at the end of the first half. That was as bad a stretch of basketball I have ever seen played. Now they have to go on the road to a place they’ve never won and face a very dangerous and healthier Rutgers team that has lost three in a row and is looking to bounce back.
I know the home court is not nearly as pronounced as it would have been in year’s past, but I do still think it matters to these kids to defend their home floor. Rutgers has pulled off some nice wins in their home building in year’s past and this would be another notch in their belt. I think they matchup well with the Badgers and their veteran led team won’t panic or let them get too far behind. It’s a short line, but I think Rutgers has a good chance to defy the odds and get the outright victory on Friday against Wisconsin.
