North Carolina had no problem with Miami in the ACC Quarterfinals so now the top-seeded Tar Heels will have to shift into high gear when they face rival Duke in the Semifinals in a weird spot where pride and keeping momentum may be more important than actually winning this game. While the recent series Trends favor Duke, the Neutral Site Trends strongly favor Carolina, so what’s the best approach for this bonus meeting between two teams who surely can’t also meet again in The Big Dance, now can they?

 North Carolina vs. Duke

The ACC Tournament’s No. 1 seed North Carolina (6/1 to win NCAA Championship, BetOnline) meet rival and #6 seed Duke 13/1 to win NCAA Championship, JustBet) in a Friday’s first Semifinal matchup and a March Madness game in which neither have to get in a bus and go down Tobacco Road to play. Grayson Allen and the Blue Devils (13-18-1 ATS) have covered two straight (CLEM, LOU) and last Saturday, pushed at Chapel Hill as 7-point underdogs against the Tar Heels, 90-83 (156) while at Durham, Amile Jefferson, Luke Kennard (20.2 ppg) and Duke won and covered as 2½-point favorites, 86-78 on Feb. 9 (164). The Blue Devils are 3-1-1 ATS L5 in the series but 5-16-2 L23 following an ATS Win while 6th-ranked (nationally) North Carolina is 19-5-2 ATS L26 as a Neutral Site favorite (NC -4, BetDSI).

ACC Player of the Year Justin Jackson (18.1 ppg), Joel Berry II and North Carolina (17-13-2 ATS) ousted Miami in its tourney opener Thursday in the Semifinals, easily covering as 9-point chalks, 78-53 (138), improving the Tar Heels to 20-7-2 ATS in its L29 Neutral Site games (74.1%). Both games Duke has played in the ACC Tourney have gone Over while North Carolina’s lone game went Under. These two teams are closer than identical twins with the Tar Heels and Blue Devils each winning 49 games in the L98 meeting with North Carolina scoring 7,515 and Duke scoring 7,516 points, believe it or not.
