Boise St. travels as underdogs in the College Basketball odds to Colorado St. tonight for a 9:00 pm tipoff at Moby Arena.  Moby is one of the toughest home courts in the Mountain West Conference.

Boise St. vs. Colorado St. (-8) 9:00 ET
The NCAA basketball odds have Boise the underdogs against Colorado St, who are 50-9 SU at home L3+Y.  One of those losses came last year, when the Broncos upset the Rams (84-72).  Tonight, with a raucous New Year’s Eve crowd cheering them on, Colorado St. will get their revenge.

Colorado St. has opened the season a perfect 13-0 SU, including road and neutral victories vs. formidable foes, Mississippi St., Cal-SB, Colorado, Denver, and New Mexico St.  Along with that 7-0 SU home record, their undefeated mark leaves them ranked 24th in the nation.  As such, they are the only ranked team in the Mountain West, a league that was ranked as high as 5th in the country just 2 years ago.  The 7-0 SU home start has been by an average margin of more than 14 PPG.  Though Colorado St. won at a tough venue (New Mexico St. on December 27th) it was with their poorest offensive game of the season.   Though Avila had 19 points, his fellow lead scorer, Bejarano, went 0-10 from the field and is shooting just 34% in his last 8 games.  Avila put tonight’s conference opener in perspective when he said “13-0, that’s fine but now everyone is now 0-0 in conference play, the real stuff is starting.”

Boise has also had a successful non-conference season with a 10-2 SU record which was highlighted by an (82-71) win at St. Marys.  But, there was also a (78-54) loss at Wisconsin, the best team they have played to date.  The Broncos, however, enter conference play on a downer.  Their top 2 players are Marks (17 PPG) and Drmic (15 PPG).  In a 48-45 loss to LOY-Chicago on December 23rd, Boise shot just 30%.  In that game, they played without Marks and Drmic.  With news that Drmic will miss the remainder of the season following ankle surgery and that Marks’ status is questionable for this game, the Broncos could be in a world of hurt without their top 2 scorers.

On opening night in Mountain West Conference play, the situation sets up perfectly for the home team. We have a 13-0 SU ranked team, playing on their strong home court, looking to avenge a loss on that court from last season.  The visitor enters on a downer with injured star players.  Those placing NCAA Basketball picks must note that Colorado St. has been a solid performer in this situation standing 42-29 ATS at home in league play.
