Should the Bulldogs be favored by such a large number against Florida Atlantic? Come check out why we think the Owls may be the better play with our college basketball picks this evening.

Odds Overview
It's a one-way street in terms of the college basketball betting odds, as the Bulldogs are locked in as 15-point favorites at almost every single sportsbook we've checked. There are one or two sites that have 14.5 available for action.

A total of 136.5 can be found for now. The Owls have really struggled offensively, while the Bulldogs have been averaging nearly 80 points per game, so a total play seems tricky.

Georgia Bulldogs
There's no better way to open up the season than to play your rival, and that's what the Bulldogs did in a matchup with Georgia Tech.

Thing is, Georgia wound up on the losing side, which isn't the way you want to kick things off.

That being said, the Bulldogs have recovered well, winning each of their last two games by double digits. They beat Stony Brook by 10 (80-70) and then thumped Troy 82-60 on Friday night. Georgia shot 50.8 percent from the floor, won the battle of the boards, and forced 16 turnovers from the Trojans.

Marcus Thornton, Nemanja Djurisic, Kenny Gaines and Charles Mann all scored in double figures in the win, with Thornton and Djurisic leading the way with 17 each. It was a very well-balanced effort from the Bulldogs, and one they'll look to replicate against Florida Atlantic.

Through three games, Djurisic has been the leading scorer, having averaged 15.3 points per game. He's shooting 46.7 percent from the field, 41.7 percent from beyond the arc and 81.3 percent from the line. Thornton has had a great influence too, putting up averages of 13.0 PPG and 6.3 RPG, while Charles Mann has averaged 13.0 PPG and 7.0 RPG.

Florida Atlantic Owls
The Owls have picked up a win and a pair of losses in their first three contests this season. They beat Warner by 25 but then fell to both Harvard and Elon in the early goings.

On Thursday, Florida Atlantic met up with a good Harvard squad and just was overmatched from the start. The Owls were down 18 by half and never got back into the game. They shot just 36.8 percent from the floor overall and were outrebounded 37-23 by the Crimson.

Justin Massey and Marquan Botley were the only two FAU players who were able to find any success on the offensive end. Massey hit 6-of-11 shots for 17 points, while Botley had 12 points in the losing effort. No other Owl reached double figures in the blowout defeat.

There hasn't been one player to stand out this season for FAU, with four different players averaging at least 10.3 points per contest. Justin Raffington has had the biggest impact on the board, pulling down an average of 7.3 rebounds a game. He's practically the only one to have had a presence on the glass for the Owls, however.

Looking at the statistics, there isn't much Florida Atlantic has done well. Perhaps a good showing against a solid Georgia team could be the start of a turnaround for the team.

NCAA Basketball Pick
This is a tricky one.

The Bulldogs are obviously the better team, but are we sure they deserve to be favored by this kind of number? They haven't been all that impressive so far, and we wouldn't mind getting a bigger sample size before trusting them with our sports picks.

Though they've struggled early on, we're going with more of a gut call than anything else and taking FAU to cover as the massive underdog in NCAAB odds. Georgia should win straight up, but we don't anticipate a total blowout here.
