Atop both polls for a second consecutive week, Gonzaga is carrying hefty chalk on the NCAA basketball odds into Wednesday’s matchup with the Washington Huskies.

If you haven’t caught the top-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs in action yet, you have a chance to see them on Wednesday’s NCAA basketball odds fixture in a nationally televised game. The only catch is most of the country will need to stay up past their bedtime for the battle against the Washington Huskies.

Having cut their way through the first eight challengers – including a win over then-No. 1 Duke – with the top-scoring offense in the game, the Bulldogs are pronounced favorites for the clash of Evergreen State rivals. Scoreboard punters will have to choose between contradicting trends for a scoreboard mark in the mid-150s.

Zags’ Hachimura Coming Off Double-Double Vs. Creighton

Since falling to Minnesota in the finals of the Vancouver Showcase, Washington has put two dubyas on the board. The latest was a nail-biter Sunday against Santa Barbara, the game going down to the final 90 seconds before the Huskies pulled off a 67-63 decision in a contest BetOnline closed U-Dub on a -13 spread. Consistent shooting from beyond the arc has been Washington’s downfall in the early going, the Huskies ranking 250th in the country connecting on just over 31% of their 3’s.

Shooting has been anything but a problem for Mark Few’s squad, the Bulldogs more than four points better than any other team in scoring (98.4 ppg) and netting field goals at a 54.2% clip, also first in the nation. They’ve been held under 50% from the field just once this season, and have crossed the 100-point plateau four times in eight trips to the floor. Rui Hachimura leads four players in double-digits with a 21.9 PPG average, and the team still isn’t at full strength with Killian Tillie not expected back from his ankle injury for at least another few weeks.

Washington Looking To End Bulldogs’ 4-Game Streak In Rivalry

The Huskies have a 29-17 lead in the rivalry that dates to 1910, but it’s the Bulldogs who have won the last four, and 12 of the last 13, to cut into what had been a dominant Washington record. Gonzaga’s 4-game win streak entering Wednesday has come by an average of 22.5 points after last year’s 97-70 dismantling of the Huskies on their home floor. Gonzaga has covered the last six – 5 times as the favorite – and the last three in Spokane skipped past the totals.

As mentioned, the teams are going in different directions in the totals column, seven of Gonzaga’s first eight games skipping above the marks while give of Washington’s eight never reach the numbers. With Tennessee on deck for the Bulldogs, I’m counting on Few to come off the accelerator enough to take the Huskies with my free college basketball pick.
