A key contest in the Big Ten takes place Tuesday when the Iowa Hawkeyes are small favorites against the visiting Maryland Terrapins. Let's analyze the matchup for your NCAAB picks.

Willie’s NCAAB season picks record: 56-39-2 (+15.00 units)

Maryland (19-7 SU, 13-11-2 ATS) at Iowa (20-5 SU, 12-13 ATS)

Tuesday, 8 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network)

Free NCAAB Pick: Iowa ATS

Best Line Offered: BetOnline

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3639254, "sportsbooksIds":[1096,999996,999991,19,93], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

With six teams packed within 2½ games of each other for the regular-season Big Ten title, it’s difficult to say any one game in the next three weeks is bigger than the other. As far as right here, right now, however, the biggest match takes place Tuesday in Iowa City, where the No. 24 Maryland Terrapins play the No. 21 Iowa Hakweyes.

The Big Ten Network will carry the matchup, the result of which at least temporarily gives the winner the upper hand for fourth place in the Big Ten standings and the extra bye in next month’s tournament that goes to the top 4 finishers. Maryland begins the week in that fourth slot, just a half-game ahead of Iowa in fifth and only two games behind the deadlock between Michigan and Michigan State atop the league.

Hawkeyes Off Second Straight Win At Buzzer

Maryland was in Ann Arbor on Saturday, and Mark Turgeon’s Terps dug themselves an early hole from which they never recovered in a 65-52 loss to the Wolverines. The Terrapins beat themselves early with 13 first half turnovers, and made just 6 of 22 tries from 3-point range to halt a modest 2-game win streak that included a mild upset of Purdue in College Park. Maryland has just four regular-season games after this trip to Iowa, three of those coming at home including a rematch with the Wolverines.

The Hawkeyes return to Iowa City off a thrilling 71-69 win Saturday at Rutgers where Joe Wieskamp threw up a desperation heave from the corner to beat the buzzer and the Scarlet Knights. While the winning shot wasn’t enough to beat the -4 spread at Bookmaker, it was enough to give Iowa its 4th straight win and second in a row at the buzzer after slipping past Northwestern, 80-79, a week earlier. The Hawkeyes will spend this week at home with a Friday date against Indiana before playing three of their final four regular-season contests on the road.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

@BleacherReport @HoHighlights @BarstoolUIowa @Ballislife @overtime (video by @brownsfan935 ) #thecommittee #Iowa #Hawkeyes #CoreySanders #CurtisBauerTheSecond ;/a>
— Committee be 🔥🔥🔥 (@TheCommittee___) February 17, 2019
\n\n"}[/]

‘Under’ Cashes 4 Of Last 6 Matchups

Tuesday’s tilt is the only meeting this season, and just the ninth between the two schools with Maryland owning a 5-3 edge. The six clashes as conference opponents have been split down the middle, each side winning two of the three games on their home floor. The Terrapins skated to a 91-73 decision last year in College Park as 7½-point favorites, and also won their last trip to Carver-Hawkeye Arena in 2017 as small underdogs.

In what should be a very even matchup, I simply like the mojo the Hawkeyes have going for them right now, and like it enough to make Iowa my college basketball pick.
