The No. 10 ranked Creighton Bluejays travel just 60 miles to meet their intrastate rivals, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, in non-conference action Wednesday. Let’s review the NCAA basketball odds and cash a ticket tonight.

Creighton At Nebraska

Creighton is a Top 10 team for the first time in the program’s history by either the AP or USA Today polls in consecutive weeks. This week the Bluejays are officially No. 10 in both, having maintained their 10th spot in the AP Poll and moving up from No. 12 to No. 10 in the USA Today coaches’ poll. The Blue Jays are 8-0 straight up and have rewarded those who have included them in their NCAA basketball picks in five of the seven lined games this season. In their last outing, the Jays hosted Akron and won by an 82-70 margin but narrowly missed covering the 12½ -point impost hung by the NCAA basketball odds makers.

The Cornhuskers fashioned a similar victory in their last appearance when they delivered a 73-61 win over South Dakota but also failed, ever so slightly, to cover their 13-point handicap. Nebraska prepares for its talented intrastate guests with a 5-3 straight-up mark and is 4-3 against the spread. Senior guard Tai Webster has set the scoring pace for the Huskers, averaging 16.9 points per game, trailed by sophomore guard Glynn Watson Jr. with a 13.8 PPG average.

The glaring disparity between these two clubs is on offense. The Bluejays are lighting up the scoreboard to the tune of 90.8 points per game, which ranks them 6th in the nation. Conversely, the Huskers are on the other end of the scoring spectrum, averaging just 69.1 PPG (280th), but defensively they have been stout in holding opponents to just 62.5 points per game, which places them 36th in the country. Creighton, on the other hand, has surrendered an average of 73.9 PPG (218th).

Creighton is 2-0 both straight up and ATS in the past two annual meetings and this one should be no different. The Blue Jays are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 vs. Big Ten opponents and 5-2 ATS in their last seven contests overall, while the Cornhuskers are 0-6 ATS vs. the Big East. But the alarming history between the two schools states that Creighton is 11-1 against the spread vs. Nebraska over their last 12 meetings. What happened a decade ago means nothing in 2016, but if it is trends you like then you can’t help but notice that one.

In short, the Jays are simply too much offensively for this edition of the Cornhuskers squad and even Nebraska’s solid defensive schemes will be no match for a team averaging better than 90 points per game.
