Chattanooga Mocs vs. Indiana Hoosiers
This is a microcosm of many 1st Round meets in the NCAA Tournament.  It features a high quality, low mid-major, regular season and CCT winner vs. a highly ranked team from one of the power conferences.  As is often the case, emotion falls to the underdog with the power team having a potential look ahead to their next game.

There is little doubt that Indiana is one of the most potent teams in the country.  The Hoosiers average 82 PPG on 50% shooting, knocking down nearly 10 triples per game at 42% from behind the arc.  But, they fail to qualify as a 3* fundamental team, because they commit nearly 14 TOs per game.  There was plenty of celebration in Bloomington, after the Hoosiers captured the regular-season Big 10 crown.

Now, the question is whether Indiana can bounce back after their CCT letdown that saw them fall (72-69) to a middle of the pack Michigan team?  There is also the issue of the Saturday look ahead to Kentucky in the Round of 32.  Truth be told, this may well be an overrated Indiana contingent. The imbalanced scheduling of the Big 10 led to a 15-3 SU regular season record, when Indiana was scheduled for 9 games against the lower echelon of the Big 10. But, the Hoosiers did much of their damage on a 17-0 SU home court of Assembly Hall.  Once they left the comfy confines, Indiana was just 9-6 SU.

That leaves us with a Chattanooga team who did not disappoint.  Under the youngest HC in the country, Matt McCall (the former Billy Donovan Asst.), the Mocs long and storied history was languishing.  But under McCall, they began the season with road wins at Georgia and Illinois, along with a later December win at Dayton.

After almost sweeping to the SOCON Title with a 15-3 SU mark, they easily won the CCT crown to advance to the NCAA.  Remember, that last year’s dogs, who won the CCT were 17-8 ATS.   This is a (7.9) 3* fundamental team who shoots 46% from the field, while allowing just 67 PPG.  When the dust cleared, Chattanooga had a lofty 16-4 SU road or neutral record.  That’s enough to make them a solid play at this price point against an Indiana team, who may not be playing with full motivation.
