We are eager to share our predictions & NCAA Basketball Pick as the Jackrabbits of S. Dakota St. travel to Brookings, S. Dakota to the altitude of Ft. Collins for this matchup with the Rams at Moby Arena.

NIT Tourney: Round 1: S. Dakota St. vs. Colorado St. (-8) 10:00 ET
The uniquely configured floor with its daunting logo has provided a solid edge to the Rams in recent seasons.  In the last 4 years, Colorado St. is 58-10 SU at Moby, including 15-1 SU this season.  In those 16 games, Colorado St. has outscored the opposition by an average score of 74-62.  Along with Temple, Colorado St. was one of two “last teams out” of the field of 68.  The Rams play the far harder schedule in the Mt. West Conference than the Jackrabbits faced in the Summit.  Let’s take a look inside the numbers and the situation to isolate our NCAA Tournament Odds pointspread winner.

S. Dakota St. is coached by 20th year mentor, Scott Nagy.  The Jacks are perennially successful posting 19 or more wins in each of the previous 3 seasons.  Last year, they lost in the First Round of CBI action.  The previous year, they made it to the 2ndRound of NCAA play.  Thus, they are not a stranger to post-season action.  This is a team who is solid on both ends of the court, averaging 73 PPG on 46% from the field, 38% from the arc and 71% from the stripe.  They have a representative defense as well, allowing just 40% from the field and 33% from the arc.  Remember, however, that much of that action has been against Summit Conference foes, the No. 22 league in the country.  In fact, the Jacks faced only the 275th hardest schedule.   The CCT Final loss to N. Dakota St. (57-56) sets up a real downer.   Because Round 1NIT road teams have been an over 75% PLAY AGAINST, if they lost their previous contest in the CCT Final.  The disappointment of missing the NCAA, along with having to travel on short rest is simply too much to overcome.  Adding to their dilemma is the fact that they will be playing at the mile high altitude of Ft. Collins.

Colorado St. missed interior force, Avila, in their 56-43 Semi-Final CCT loss to San Diego St.  Avila is expected to return for this contest, making Colorado St. a beautifully balanced offensive team with his interior presence.  After missing the post-season last year, this veteran Colorado St. team will be eager to win this event and show the NCAA Committee that they should have been included in the selection process with a record of 27-6.

When deciding on our NCAA Basketball Pick, we look to the combination of the strong home court, the altitude, the stronger level of competition, the poor situation for a disappointed traveler and the return of Avila are all reasons why Colorado St. gets this double digit victory.
