The Arizona State Sun Devils took a wicked pounding at the hands of the Kentucky Wildcats in an 115-69 loss in the Bahamas. How will ASU head coach Bobby Hurley's Sun Devils react against UNLV? Is UNLV good value in this matchup?

UNLV Rebels (5-2) vs. Arizona State Sun Devils (4-3)

Stopping the Bleeding

Usually, when the Sun Devils lose a game, they bounce back with a strong effort. That said, their last game was more than a loss as the Kentucky Wildcats defeated ASU 115-69. The Wildcats defeated the Sun Devils in every aspect of the game. They outrebounded ASU 57-30, had an edge in assists 33-15, and outshot the Sun Devils 52.4% -34.2%. The Sun Devils will look to rebound against much lesser competition in the Rebels. While the Rebels sport a strong 5-1 start to the season, they haven't played teams the caliber of a Kentucky and Arizona State has a decisive advantage in strength of schedule. This is indicative in the betting odds provided by 5 Dimes Sportsbook as the Sun Devils are a 6 point betting favorite.

There is almost always a bright side to everything and for Arizona State, every starter scored in double figures in their matchup with Kentucky. Senior forward, Obinna Oleka, had a very strong game as he finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds on 6 of 9 shooting from the field. Oleka has been a "walking double-double" all season long as he's averaging 12.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. In his last 2 games, Oleka is averaging 17 points and 13 rebounds on 13 of 19 shooting from the field. Look for Oleka to have another huge game as the drop in competition will take some pressure off of him in his job to protect the boards and contribute offensively.

"The Big 3"

Arizona State is a team that can light up the scoreboard as they average 83.3 points per game and with the trio of Tre Holder (17.1 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists), Torian Graham (16.6 points, 4 rebounds), and Buffalo transfer, Shannon Davis II (15.4 points, 4.7 assists, 3.7 rebounds). This is a team that has plenty of options to choose from. They can also hit their free throws in a tight game and they appear to be ready for a bounce-back effort.

For UNLV, Jaylen Posner is the go-to guy as he's a well-balanced player that's capable of shooting the lights out. Posner is averaging 17.1 points, 3.9 assists, 3.4 rebounds and is shooting 40.9% from beyond the arc. Poyser is coming off of a subpar effort against Southern Utah, but this is a player that can play lockdown defense and that's what the Rebels will need in this game.

Look for UNLV to catch a vulnerable ASU team off guard for your NCAA basketball predictions.
