Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Neither team has done well in conference play, but it's the Fighting Irish that find themselves favored by six points for tonight's game against the Yellow Jackets.
Coming in, Notre Dame has gone 14-14 SU and a very poor 8-16-2 ATS, while Georgia Tech hasn't been a lot better at 13-14 SU and 9-11-1 ATS. The Fighting Irish (5-10 SU) have the marginally better conference record than the Yellow Jackets, who are 4-10 at the moment.
Georgia Tech has dropped two in a row (by an average margin of 12.5 points) and come in having gone 1-4 over their last five, with the sole win coming at home over Boston College.
The Yellow Jackets' primary struggles have come offensively. They're averaging 66.7 points per game for the season but that number goes down to 53.2 PPG when talking about their past five contests. Fortunately they've been able to fare much better on the defensive end.
Speaking of struggles, the Fighting Irish have had plenty since Jerian Grant left the team. This is a team that's also lost two in a row, while going 3-7 SU (3-6-1 ATS) in their previous 10 matchups.
Tonight we are picking Notre Dame to return the favor after losing at Georgia Tech last month. They've been a totally different team at home, where they're 12-5 SU on the season. On the road they've won only one of nine straight up, so we should be seeing a lot more confidence out of this group against the beatable Yellow Jackets.
With your NCAA basketball picks, back the Fighting Irish to win by seven or more points on their home floor
Pick: Notre Dame Fighting Irish -6
We've already faded Baylor quite a few teams this season and it's worked out well for us. This isn't so much a fade as it is simply having confidence in a good team in Texas to take care of business at home.
Right now the NCAA basketball betting odds board has the Longhorns favored by four points, with the total at 139 at most sportsbooks. Texas is 20-7 SU and 12-12 ATS on the year, while Baylor has gone 18-9 SU and 8-11-2 ATS.
The Bears are the hotter team of the two, having won four in a row, including overtime victories over Oklahoma State and Kansas State. The winning streak has been rounded off by double-digit road wins over TCU and West Virginia.
The Longhorns have hit a wall, losing two straight road contests (at Iowa State and Kansas). They were destroyed by 31 by the Jayhawks over the weekend, so you know they'll want to come out and redeem themselves at home tonight.
Texas has lost just twice in Austin and hasn't tasted defeat there since early January. They've reeled off six consecutive wins inside their own building, with impressive wins over Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa State tossed in there.
We really like this situational spot for the Longhorns. They've suffered two tough defeats in a row, but now they return home where they've practically been unbeatable lately. Baylor could be in for a letdown after such an emotion-filled win streak.
Some will take the points with the in-form Bears, but we like Texas to overwhelm the visitors en route to the SU victory and ATS cover.
Pick: Texas Longhorns -4[gameodds]14/259416/?r-1=43-19-349/us[/gameodds]
