TCU Horned Frogs vs. Texas Longhorns
The Longhorns, seeded seventh, will do battle with #10-seed TCU this evening for a chance to move on to face Kansas State (#2) in the quarter-final round of the Big 12 tournament.
Given the Horned Frogs won two conference games all year, it's hardly shocking that they're getting 11 points in this matchup with Texas. The total, if you're interested, can be found at 115 at a majority of online sportsbooks.
Since Myck Kabongo returned from suspension, the Longhorns have looked a far better team. They won three of their final four regular season games, two of which came over strong competition in Baylor and Oklahoma.
While we do like Texas to win this game straight up quite easily, we are more interested in a play on the first-half spread. We don't want to get unlucky with a last-second backdoor cover should the Horned Frogs make a late run.
At #320 in the nation in first-half scoring margin, TCU has been having a terrible time early on in games. They're getting out-scored by an average margin of 5.9 points and that number jumps to 9.8 when away from home.
The Longhorns meanwhile jumped out to an eight-point lead by halftime in the last meeting between these teams and were leading by 12 at the break in the first matchup in Austin.
We like Texas to come out hot here and cover the first-half number again versus a TCU team that's struggled out of the gate all season long. We sacrifice a little College Basketball betting value by buying a half-point here, but it could end up being the difference between a win and a push.
NCAA Basketball Pick: Texas Longhorns 1H -5.5 (buying hook)

Lafayette Leopards vs. Bucknell Bison
During the regular season, the Bison overcame Lafayette easily at home (66-51), but then found things much more difficult in the rematch. The Leopards actually won 63-62, a win which started their current streak of seven straight victories.
Lafayette is on fire right now, particularly on the offensive end. They're putting up 79.6 PPG on 51.3 percent shooting and 45.8 percent from three over their last five.
Nonetheless, oddsmakers aren't liking the Leopards' chances of staying competitive with Bucknell tonight. The college basketball odds have the Bison favored by 10.5 points, while the total has settled in around the 130 mark.
We realize Bucknell will have the most dominant player on the court in Mike Muscala, who's averaging 190 PPG and 11.2 RPG on the season. However, we really like Lafayette's guard play and think that will keep them in this game.
An extremely efficient offensive team, the Leopards have three awesome shooters in Seth Hinrichs, Tony Johnson and Bryce Scott. All three are connecting on at least 42.4 percent of their threes.
It's Hinrichs and Johnson that have been the stars of the show for this team though, with the pair combining for 42 points and 13 rebounds in the semi-final triumph over Lehigh.
This one is going to come down to whether or not Lafayette is hitting their shots, as we know Muscala is going to be a beast inside no matter what. The Leopards, however, have plenty of good shooters and have already proven they can hang with the Bison, so we like their chances of staying within this number on a neutral court.
NCAA Basketball Pick: Lafayette Leopards +10.5 at 5Dimes[gameodds]14/224391/43/us[/gameodds]
