The last month has been a struggle for the Huskies, but will they be able to bring it against a ranked Arizona team tonight?
Washington vs. Arizona
Armed with a solid home-court advantage, the Wildcats find themselves favored by 12.5 points for tonight's visit of Washington.
The total for this one can be found at 136. Though the UNDER has hit in five of Washington's previous six on the road, the OVER has gone 4-1 in Arizona's last five matchups overall.
The Huskies ended a three-game losing streak, with the defeats coming to UCLA, Oregon and USC, by beating Oregon State 72-62 at home on Saturday.
Washington had a hard time pulling away, but they got a big-time performance out of C.J. Wilcox, guiding them to the SU win and ATS cover as 4.5 point NCAAB odds favorites.
Wilcox, who leads the team with 17.6 PPG on the season, hit 7-of-14 shots, including 3-of-8 from beyond the arc, to finish with 24 points. He added six rebounds and three blocks in the win.
The junior's resurgence couldn't have come at a better time. Wilcox had been struggling after a red-hot start and Huskies fans will be hoping the performance against the Beavers will give him the necessary confidence to get going again.
At least Washington does have others who can step up the plate if need be. Scott Suggs can get hot from outside at any given moment, Abdul Gaddy has done a nice job of orchestrating the offense, and Aziz N'Diaye has been a formidable presence inside, averaging 10.3 PPG and 9.6 RPG so far this season.
Sean Miller's team is still trying to work out some kinks before we head into March Madness. His Wildcats were last in action on Sunday, when they scraped past Utah to win 68-64 on the road.
It was hardly the prettiest of wins, but Arizona did what they needed to do. Mark Lyons finished with 18 points and five assists, while Solomon Hill flirted with a double-double.
Wildcats backers were not too pleased though, as the team didn't come close to covering as nine-point chalk ahead of tipoff. That's four straight games now in which Arizona has failed to cash against the spread.
It's not just recently that the Wildcats have been poor versus the number. This Arizona squad is now a dismal 3-11 ATS over their last 14 games overall. They're also 1-5 ATS in their previous six inside the McKale Center.
The Wildcats will be hoping they'll have more success getting the ball in the basket after finding it hard to do so in the first meeting with Washington. That game ended in a 57-53 win for Arizona, with Miller's team shooting 35.1 percent overall and 16.7 percent from three.
College Basketball Pick
Even though the Huskies are falling further and further behind in the conference standings, we think they're undervalued for this game tonight.
Coming in Washington has gone a respectable 7-4 ATS on the road, and we believe their presence on the glass – they're averaging 36.6 RPG over their last five compared to Arizona's 29.8 RPG – will help them stay competitive.
The Wildcats have lost just twice at home this season, but they've only gone 5-6 ATS on their own floor. This simply seems like too much chalk for a team that's not playing its best ball right now.
Washington always seems to play Arizona tough, at least over the past couple of seasons, so we're backing the road team to stay within this hefty number.
