NCAAB Picks: Vanderbilt vs. Missouri
There are a total of 19 top 25 teams in action tonight, and I have one of them on my slate for this evening.
The pick I’ve chosen for this Saturday is the Vanderbilt Commodores on the road to face the Tigers of Missouri. NCAAB Odds favor the Tigers at -12, with a total of 125. Will the Tigers have enough to cover the large spread at home, or will the Commodores come in and play them tough?
Tigers perfect at home
The Tigers have only lost one at home, which is one of the reasons why this spread is well above double digits. There have been several key injuries to players this season for the Tigers, but it appears as if the world is throwing the Tigers a break tonight against Vanderbilt, after a rough couple of weeks for the program.
Laurence Bowers will be back for Missouri tonight, along with his 17 points per game. Bowers sprained his MCL a few weeks ago, and has missed the Tigers last four games. Missouri went 2-2 SU during that stretch, and there is not doubt they will welcome back Bowers tonight. Senior Keion Bell will also be back tonight after missing the Tigers’ game against South Carolina this past Tuesday.
Commodores playing tough
The Commodores will be trying to get back to .500 on the season, and a win tonight would really help the little bit of momentum they already have going for them. Vanderbilt is on a 2-game winning streak, and Kedren Johnson has been a big reason why. Johnson is averaging 15 points per game this season, and although he didn’t shoot well against Auburn and South Carolina, he did have a combined 15 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 blocks in those last two wins.
The sophomore Johnson is emerging as one of the best underclassman guards in the country this season. He has cooled off after a really hot start to the season, and if he can have another night like he was having back in 2012, the Tigers could be in trouble tonight.
The Sharp Pick
I do think the Commodores have a nice shot in this game, but I think their deficiencies at the free throw line and on offense in general are going to play right into the hands of the Tigers. Missouri is one of the better offensive teams in the country, and if Vandy goes on an extended offensive slump, the Tigers could wrap this one up really quick.
With the return of Bowers and Bell tonight, along with Missouri’s superior size down low, I don’t think the Commodores will be able to hang with the Tigers for a full 40 minutes and they probably shouldn't be backed in this one for your basketball betting. Bowers should have a nice game with now one to guard him on the other side, and Missouri’s five guys averaging double figure scoring will help dominate this evening at home.
My NCAAB Pick: Missouri -12
