The final Men’s college basketball game on this evening is a matchup between UNLV & UCLA. The NCAAB Odds have the Bruins -3 ½ favorites, but I am seeing more value in the total of 159 points.

Defensive Battle To End The Night
While it’s still early in the season, and with college basketball averages a little skewed because of easy non-conference schedules to start the year, the Rebels are a solid defensive team this season, and that could continue tonight against the Bruins. UNLV is allowing only 60 points per game to start the season, and even though a lot of that is due to their stellar blowouts against the likes of New Mexico Highlands, the Rebels should be able to give the Bruins some trouble on the defensive end in this game. Both teams are also scoring with ease, but both have also not played talent as good as the other in this game, and after a lot of rest, the under looks like the play between these two late night teams.

Both teams cashed the under in their previous contests, and with a NCAA Basketball Odds total of 159 tonight, (which has come up from 156 where it opened) the sportsbooks are handing us some extra value in this final game of the evening. Both teams have had at least four days rest too, which should really help the defense. The Rebels are on five days rest since they playing last on the 18th in their win against Southern Utah. Since last season, in games where UNLV has had at least four days rest, the under is 2-0, and I see that trend continuing here tonight.

The Sharp Pick
All three of UNLV’s top scorers are also really good defenders, and the team as a whole has a lot of good defensive talent. Last season Christian Wood led this team and this conference in defensive rebounding, and while the Rebels don’t have that kind of a rebounder anymore this season, Patrick McCaw is 4th currently in the Mountain West in steals, and he leads the conference in three pointers this young season. The Rebels also have the conference’s second leading shot blocker in Stephen Zimmerman Jr, and Derrick Jones Jr is also 6th in steals this season. While some will scoff at the mention of leading the Mountain West in anything, this conference has some talent despite not having any current Top 25 teams.

The Bruins on the other hand have held their opponents to a combined 39.8% from the field to start the season, and if they can bring that kind of defensive intensity to their game tonight against UNLV, the under should provide a lot of great value. I see Tony Parker leading the Bruins and limiting the Rebels to one shot per trip down the floor with his incredible rebounding, and with all of this considered, I see a final score of about 78-75, and the under being the best NCAA Basketball Pick for this game.
