Our college basketball analyst shares his two top underdog picks on Thursday’s card. He’s been a more than respectable 9-5 (64%) with his underdog picks over the past six betting days.

California Golden Bears vs. Arizona Wildcats 9:00 PM ET
Arizona will enter tonight’s contest having gone 0-2 SU&ATS in its last two games. Both defeats came on the road versus Colorado and Utah. As a result of those losses, Arizona dropped to fourth place in the PAC-12 standings. Despite their stellar 21-8 overall record, and 10-6 conference mark, you can certainly make a strong case that Arizona has underachieved thus far based on expectations. The Wildcats are 15-1 on their home floor. However, Oregon proved they aren’t invincible during an 8 point win in Tempe.

California is an extremely hot team that’s peaking at the right time, going 7-0 SU&ATS in their last seven games. That winning run has catapulted them to third place in the PAC-12 standings, and 1.0 game ahead of tonight’s opponent. During its last five contests, California has shot 47.9%, converted on 42.7% of their three point attempts, averaged a sizable 30 free throw attempts per contest, and held opponents to a paltry 39.5% from the field. Another factor that can’t be ignored is the Bears rebounding prowess. They possess a +8 rebound per game differential over their last five games. California is one of the few teams in the country that can battle Arizona evenly on the boards.

Current NCAA basketball odds provide me with a best combination of number and price for this wager.

Stanford vs. Arizona State 11:00 PM ET
Arizona State has fallen on hard times of late, on and off the court. They’ve gone 0-4 SU&ATS in their last four contests and lost by a massive average of 24.0 points per game. They recently had an assistant coach arrested on a DUI charge, and had a player leave the team due to a falling out with head coach Bobby Hurley. During this four game losing streak, Arizona State has allowed 84.3 points per contest, opponents have shot a combined 50.9%, and they compiled a horrible -11 rebound per game differential. Arizona has also allowed six of their previous eight opponents to shoot 49% or better. Contrarily, they’ve converted on a horrible 35.4% of its field goal attempts during this current losing slide.

On the other hand, Stanford is playing very well in recent games, going 4-1 SU&ATS in its previous five contests. During that time, Stanford has shot 47.9%, converted on a superb 42.7% of their three point attempts, and had a +3.5 rebound per game differential.

Although it’s a very small number, I’ll take it as an additional bonus when making my NCAA basketball picks on Thursday.
