What a tough beat for Iowa State backers last night. The Cyclones were seconds away from an upset win at home, but some highly questionable calls from the refs led to an overtime period, where Kansas switched to another gear and pulled away.
Moving on to tonight, we think there's some more value to be found. Here are my free picks for the evening.
Wyoming Cowboys vs. Air Force Falcons
The Cowboys have the better SU record, but we believe the value lies with Air Force at home in tonight's MWC matchup.
Let's get the College Basketball odds out of the way first. The Falcons are favored by 3.5 points, with 4 also available if you disagree and like Wyoming to cover as dogs.
Neither of these teams have been playing the greatest basketball lately, but Air Force has least been competitive in most of their losses.
The same can't be said for Wyoming. Their latest two games have both been utter disasters. They lost by 28 to San Diego State on the road and then were killed 65-42 at home by UNLV. The Cowboys have now failed to cover the spread in three straight contests and are a miserable 1-8 ATS over their last nine.
As for Air Force, they can get scorching hot on their home floor and we're banking on them doing just that tonight. They average 76.7 PPG on 52.5 percent shooting and an outstanding 41.1 percent from beyond the arc at home.
Michael Lyons is the one to watch. He's averaging 18.8 points per game and dropped 45 points on 17-of-25 shooting (6-of-13 from three) in Air Force's last home game against a strong Colorado State squad.
Having covered in seven straight on their own court, you may think the Falcons are a due for a letdown. However, we don't believe that will happen and will be backing Air Force to get back on track against Wyoming.
NCAA Basketball Pick: Air Force Falcons -3.5
Wake Forest Demon Deacons vs. Florida State Seminoles
The Demon Deacons, fresh off their best win of the season, will try to keep momentum high with another good showing against Florida State tonight.
Right now, most online sportsbooks are listing the Seminoles as six point favorites. With both teams struggling defensively, it's not a shock to see the total at 139. The OVER has cashed in four straight games featuring Florida State.
The Seminoles will be out for revenge after getting crushed by 25 in the first meeting with Wake Forest, but we just don't have much faith in this Florida State team.
After losing so many key pieces from last year's ACC title-winning squad, the Seminoles have had their fair share of struggles trying to move on and fill in the missing pieces.
Instead of a nice balance in production, Florida State has been leaning on Michael Snaer and Okaro White far too much. If they're not playing absolutely lights out ball, it's going to be tough sledding for the Seminoles, as we've seen so often already this season.
For Wake Forest, C.J. Harris and Travis McKie have been providing the leadership, while Devin Thomas and Codi Miller-McIntyre, who both made their presence felt against the Hurricanes, have made vast improvements already in their freshman years.
Many might think this is a letdown spot for Wake Forest after that win over Miami (FL), but we feel the Demon Deacons are the right side here, despite their poor road record. Six points is too many points in our book, so we're adding the visitors to our NCAA Basketball picks, expecting the Demon Deacons to cover.
NCAA Basketball Pick: Wake Forest Demon Deacons +6
