The Gonzaga Bulldogs and Saint Mary’s Gaels have played one of the more contentions rivalries in recent years, as the two teams prepare to meet up Thursday.

Let’s take a closer look at the college basketball odds for this West Coast Conference matchup at the McCarthey Athletic Center, with the opening tip scheduled for 9:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

Back in the win column

Saint Mary’s snapped a three-game losing streak by picking up an 88-80 victory over the Pacific Tigers as three-point road favorites Monday, while going OVER the betting total for the sixth time in seven opportunities.

It’s important to point out that the program played that game without head coach Randy Bennett on the sidelines, as he began serving a five-game suspension due to NCAA rules violations.

Like clockwork

Gonzaga has been the premiere program in the WCC for more than a decade, while it picked up its 20th consecutive win against conference foes last time out, as it came away with a 69-41 victory over the San Francisco Dons as 15-point home favorites.

The Bulldogs have won their last 21 conference home games, while they’ve compiled a dominating 127-8 SU all-time record at this venue.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the squad has gone 61-8 SU and 32-34 ATS as favorites, with the UNDER going 37-13 in that situation.

Deep roster

College basketball handicappers may have an interest in backing the road underdogs in this spot, as the Gaels have five players averaging 9.5 points or more per game, with their top two scorers combining for 146 starts.

Senior forward Brad Waldow is the key player to handicap, as he’s the only player to rank in the top 10 in points, rebounds and field goal percentage among WCC players.

The Bulldogs are capable of beating any team in the country, especially with junior guard Kevin Pangos on the floor.

The junior guard is averaging a team-high 17.6 points per game, but he’s been slowed a bit due to an issue with turf toe recently.

I’m going to recommend that readers play the total for their college basketball picks, as the UNDER is 7-1 in the last eight meetings in this rivalry series.
