Pretty weak schedule on a light Thursday around the nation but one game clearly stands out: Iowa at Iowa State. Check more NCAA basketball picks inside.

Iowa vs. #4 Iowa State (-7 On NCAA Basketball Odds)
This is known in the state as the Cy-Hawk game for obvious reasons. The Hawkeyes (7-2) might get into the Top 25 with an upset in Ames. Iowa owns quality wins over Wichita State and Florida State. It comes off  90-56 warm-up rout of Western Illinois on Monday. The Hawkeyes jumped out to 15-3 lead over the first five minutes and made 14 of their first 19 field-goal attempts overall for a 32-10 lead and the game was over. Senior Jarrod Uthoff scored a career-high 27 points for Iowa. He scored 13 straight points in one stretch. Iowa led by as many as 39 points with four minutes remaining before emptying its bench. The Hawkeyes have won 44 of their past 50 games when scoring 80 points. This will be Iowa's second true road game of the season. It won at Marquette 89-61 on Nov. 19. Iowa has won eight of its last 11 true road games, including posting a 7-3 mark last season. Iowa State (7-0) most definitely looks like a national title contender and hasn't missed a beat since losing Coach Fred Hoiberg to the NBA this offseason. A win here would make Steve Prohm the first coach in school history to start 8-0. The Cyclones have beaten their opponents by an average of 20.3 points, with the only game decided by single digits in the opener against Colorado. Iowa State has five players averaging at least 12.5 points, led by Big 12 Player of the Year candidate Georges Niang at 18.6 per game. The home team has won eight of the past 10 meetings but Iowa State won in Iowa City 90-75 last season. The Hawkeyes are 0-4 ATS in their past four following an ATS win. ISU has covered seven of its past nine vs. teams with a winning record.

Canisius vs. Penn State (-5.5 In NCAA Basketball Betting)
Canisius (3-4) is from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Golden Griffins are off a 78-76 home loss to Quinnipiac. Canisius nearly erased an 11-point deficit with 50 seconds left to play, but three chances to either win or tie the game fell short. Phil Valenti had a career-high 25 points to go with nine rebounds for Canisius, while Jamal Reynolds had 11 points and 10 rebounds -- he's one of the best offensive rebounders in the country. Canisius’ last three losses have been by a total of eight points. The Golden Griffins haven't played a major conference team yet this season. Penn State (5-3) lost Tuesday night at George Washington 76-66. Leading scorer Shep Garner led the Nittany Lions, who had a three-game winning streak snapped, with 22 points. They held GW leading scorer Patricio Garino to just two points. This game is part of the Las Vegas Classic and will be played on PSU's campus at Rec Hall, which is very unusual for the school. Penn State last played in Rec Hall during the 2013-14 season. Canisius and Penn State haven't met in eight years. The Lions are 4-1 ATS in their past five at home vs. teams with a losing road record.

Washington State vs. Idaho (+6.5 For NCAA Basketball Picks)
The Cougars (5-1) play their first road game of the season. Their lone loss was a very acceptable one, 69-60 to then-No. 13 Gonzaga. All five wins have been by double digits, albeit against weak competition. Wazzu's 5-1 start is its best since 2010-11. The Cougars have blocked 41 shots already, averaging 6.8 per game. Junior transfer Valentine Izundu is averaging 3.5 blocks per game, fifth in the nation and second in the Pac-12. Idaho is the fourth and final school from the Big Sky Conference that Washington State will face during the regular season. Idaho (5-5) is playing its second straight Pac-12 team, as it lost at Southern Cal 74-55 on Monday. Idaho attempted just seven free throws on the night, making four. The Vandals are 0-5 this season when scoring less than 60 points. This matchup is called the Battle of the Palouse as the campuses are only about eight miles apart. Washington State and Idaho are meeting for the 110th consecutive season. That's the longest continuous rivalry west of the Mississippi River. I didn't know that! The only longer rivalries overall are all in the Ivy League. Wazzu has won 11 of the past 12 in the series but fell at home last  year 77-71. The Cougars shot just 35.2 percent from the field and made only five of 30 shots from 3-point range. The Cougars are 6-1 ATS in the past seven meetings.
