There are a lot of tournaments going on as we're at the end of the November. The NCAA Basketball season is just starting to heat up as matchups will be more competitive. With almost 100 games on today's slate let's take a look at the board and zero in on the ones that will benefit us the most where are bankroll is concerned.

Charleston Cougars (2-3) vs. #21 West Virginia Mountaineers (6-0)
Puerto Rico Tip-Off
Sometimes it's good to have the much inferior squad coming in on a high after winning their previous game. It usually affects the NCAA basketball odds and lowers the number for the betting favorite; the team that you are interested in.

That's the case here as Charleston is coming off of a 61-60 victory over George Mason after a 3 game slide. Not only that, the Cougars have faced some formidable opponents such as Uconn and were competitive. West Virginia certainly is the club with more talent, but they can't have an off game or they''ll have their hands full.

Then again, Charleston is 2-3 and a double-digit dog for a reason. Against George Mason, their starters were just 8 of 27 from the field for just 23 total points for the game ! The brunt of the work was done by the bench as starter Canyon Barry scored 17 points while the rest of the starters were non-existent.

'The Mountaineers primary goal will be to stop senior, Adjehi Baru as Baru is a 30 minute threat off the bench that can give the Cougars a lift with his ability to score and dominate the boards. Other than that, this is West Virginia's game to win. They have the far superior ball club in this matchup.

Juwan Staten
The senior guard from Dayton, Ohio is the Mountaineers go to guy on offense. He's a very efficient shooter from inside the arc at a tad under 50% and also has the complete game, putting forth a great defensive effort.

Staten's best game of the season was against the Connecticut Huskies as he poured in 21 points with 12 trips to the line. This is a big money player and I expect him to have a huge game while stifling the production from the Charleston guards.

That said, forward Devin Williams has fallen into a deep slump. In his first 3 games, Williams averaged 15.3 points and 8 rebounds and in his last 2 games, he's disappeared, averaging just 5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Williams hasn't been looking for his shot and he'll have a great opportunity to get back on track tonight. Look for West Virginia to clobber the Cougars.

Colgate Raiders (1-4) vs. Arizona State Sun Devils (3-2)
Lack of Team Depth
I looked at this matchup and I couldn't resist. Aside from Colgate's starting 5, they basically get no production. This will be a tired group of Raiders when this game is completed. Both teams are coming off of losses, but Arizona State is a clear 13.5 point betting favorite for obvious reasons and are in a far superior conference in the Pac-12.

The Sun Devils started off the season in grand style with 3 easy victories against 3 cupcakes and then met their match as they lost to both Maryland and Alabama by 5 points apiece.

6 foot 10, 255 pound forward, Eric Jacobsen has really stepped up his game for the Sun Devils against the better teams, In his last 2 games, he's averaging 13.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Although he doesn't put up a ton of shots, Jacobsen is still shooting an eye popping 78.3% from the field. I don't think anyone on the Raiders has a chance of stopping this big man and he needs to look for his offense moore.

Damon Sherman-Newsome
Speaking of looking for offense, that's right up Damon Sherman-Williams' alley as he leads the paper-thin Raiders in scoring at 18.8 points per game. The Colgate starters will be a tired group of players as they play major minutes, but that won't stop Sherman-Newsome. He's averaging 54.7% from the field and 48.3 % from beyond the arc. Arizona will need to focus on Sherman-Newsome defensively or he'll keep the Raiders in this ball game.

In the end, I think team depth is going to kill Colgate here more than what conference that they play for. For your NCAA basketball picks look for Arizona State to make frequent substitutions and outclass this one man show.
