To paraphrase one of the great thinkers of recent times, Jerry Seinfeld's mechanic David Puddy, Tuesday night feels like a MAC night. Because that's where we're going for today's selection of free college basketball picks.

Bowling for a Cover
Bowling Green's upstart Falcons, who sit just a game out of first place in the MAC East, visit disappointing Ohio.

BG recently won four games in a row, but has lost its last two, getting upset at home by both Miami and Buffalo. The Falcons shot just 36 percent from the floor against the Red Hawks, then 40 percent against the Bulls. However, shooting the ball isn't exactly Bowling Green's specialty; the Falcons make most of their hay on the other end of the court, where they're holding opponents to just under 40 percent FG shooting on the season.

At 9-5 in conference play Bowling Green trails first-place Kent State by one game in the East. The Falcons have also been a great moneymaker this season, going 15-5 ATS.

Ohio, meanwhile, has lost four games in a row, after falling at home to Kent State Saturday 64-51. Prior to that the Bobcats lost to Western Michigan by 11, to Miami by 11 and to Central Michigan by 11. So Ohio is 0-4 ATS over its last four games, 8-14 ATS on the season and in last place in the East at 4-10.

Finally, Bowling Green beat Ohio back in January 69-54, covering at home at -7. BG shot 44 percent from the floor that day, and held the Bobcats to 33 percent shooting.

The Falcons are the better team, playing on the road, where the spread is three and a half points cheaper than it was when these teams met six weeks ago on the NCAA basketball odds.

Hunting for Cash with the Chippewas
Central Michigan, tied for the lead in the West Division, visits Eastern Michigan.

The Chips have won five in a row, after dispatching of Ball State Saturday 83-60. Central Michigan shot 58 percent from the floor, went 12-for-24 from 3-point land and 13-for-13 from the FT line, all in cashing in as an 11-point favorite.

At 10-4 in conference play the Chippewas are tied for first in the West with Toledo. So a season after going 3-15 in conference play CMU has a chance to win the division title.

Eastern Michigan, at the moment, is doing the up/down thing. Ten days ago the Eagles pulled a short upset, beating Akron 78-75 as one-point home dogs; they then lost at home to Buffalo 78-63; but last time out they won at Northern Illinois 73-65 as two-point road dogs. EMU led that game by 16 at the half, then hung on from there.

But at 6-8 in conference play the Eagles are just hoping to get to .500.

Central Michigan just beat Eastern Michigan one month ago 65-51, covering as six-point home favorites. The Chips led by 13 at the half, and for the game held the Eagles to just 31 percent FG shooting.

Eastern Michigan pulled an upset on the road last time out, but to us that just sets the Eagles up for a “fade” play tonight. We like the Chippewas, the hotter team at the moment, to win this one outright with our college basketball picks.
