The regular season is finally drawing to a close in the Ivy League, the Horizon League is playing its championship game, and the ACC Tournament is just beginning on Tuesday's college basketball betting card.
Georgia Tech vs. Boston College
A bunch of heavyweights will eventually take the floor this week at Greensboro Coliseum, site of this year's Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament. It's the conference lightweights on Tuesday, however, that get the ball rolling, beginning with a battle between the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Boston College Eagles.
ESPN2 will begin its coverage of the entire tourney at 1 PM (ET), the Yellow Jackets and Eagles tipping off a few minutes later. Boston College went out at -1 before those NCAA Basketball odds swelled to -2½, even one -3 showing up. The first and only total listed currently is 123½.
These two teams avoided the ACC basement, but not by much. Georgia Tech (12-18 straight up, 13-14-1 against the spread) could muster just three conference victories on the schedule, and dropped its final four games. The Yellow Jackets will have to play the tourney without leading scorer and rebounder Marcus Georges-Hunt (13.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg) due to a broken foot.
Boston College (12-18 SU, 16-10 ATS) appeared headed towards a cellar finish in the league before winning its final three games. It's the third consecutive season the Eagles and Yellow Jackets have met in the opening round of the ACC Tournament, the previous two games split between the schools.
It was BC scoring the mild 64-62 upset at Georgia Tech back in late-January as a 4½ point underdog, and I'm getting behind the Eagles with my free pick in this matchup.

Green Bay vs. Valparaiso - Horizon League Championship
This is one of those games you gotta' watch to experience a season coming to an end for one team or the other. Well, one would think it that's going to be the Green Bay Phoenix given the NCAA odds in the Horizon League title tilt.
A big part of the Phoenix being 3 point underdogs in the 7:05 PM (ET) tip on ESPN is they're playing the Valparaiso Crusaders on their home floor for the conference championship. The total is 122½, a few points below their regular season meetings.
Green Bay (18-14 SU, 14-15 ATS) and Valparaiso (27-5 SU, 16-10-1 ATS) split their two clashes this year, each recording a home win while the Crusaders managed to cover the spread both times. Both squads had byes into the semifinals of the tourney, the Phoenix taking down Illinois-Chicago, 70-56, with a strong second half performance while Valpo had just enough to cover a 4½ point line with a 60-55 victory vs. Cleveland State.
The Crusaders may have to play without Tevonn Walker, third on the team averaging 10.5 PPG, after the freshman guard injured a knee in the win over Cleveland State. I kinda' like Green Bay plus the points, but like the 'under' even more.

Princeton vs. Pennsylvania
Might as well squeeze in the final game of the year in the Ivy League as Princeton and Pennsylvania meet in the traditional closer...only, this isn't the last game for the Ancient Eight this time around since Harvard and Yale will decide things once and for all at The Palestra in Philadelphia this Saturday.
The Tigers and Quakers will end their seasons on the same floor Tuesday night, the tip a little past 7:30 at The Palestra. Backing the Tigers means giving up 3½, that number down a half from the opening NCAA odds, and the earliest total available is 133½.
Princeton (15-14 SU, 11-10 ATS) and Pennsylvania (9-18 SU, ATS) started their Ivy League schedules against one another with a mid-January meeting in Jersey, the Tigers posting a 78-74 victory that didn't have enough to cover the 8½ point spread. That was the 3rd-straight time Penn has covered in this series, and the third time in four meetings that 'over' bettors were left holding winning tickets.
My final free NCAA Basketball pick for the day will be on Tigers to stop the Quakers' string of spread-beaters.
