Looking to start off the week with a bang, Steven Suarez dishes out two of his favorite college basketball picks for a relatively slow Monday night of hoops action.

Louisville Cardinals vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
The big news here is obviously the dismissal of Chris Jones from the Louisville basketball team. He has been kicked off for a violation of team rules, and that's a huge blow to the Cardinals program, considering he had been one of the team's better players this season.

The post-Jones era continues tonight, as Louisville heads to Georgia Tech to take on the Yellow Jackets. The NCAA basketball odds board lists Louisville has a 5.5-point favorite here on the road, but there are a couple sportsbooks out there that have a spread of five available for those that like the Cardinals and want a better number.

Louisville is going to miss Jones on the court, few can argue that (he had averaged 13.7 PPG, 4.0 RPG and 3.6 APG), with more responsbility now falling on the shoulders of Terry Rozier and Montrezl Harrell. Those two are going to have to carry the load moving forward, and it certainly wouldn't hurt if Wayne Blackshear, one of the most inconsistent players in the country, could contribute on a regular basis too. The Cardinals, despite the loss of Jones, remain one of the most talented teams in college basketball, and they have a great coach in Rick Pitino, so we're not going to lose all faith.

The Yellow Jackets, meanwhile, have been having a rough go of it in ACC play, as they've gone a poor 3-12 thus far. Overall they're 12-15, while having lost three of their previous four games coming into tonight. Marcus Georges-Hunt has been the team's go-to scoring option, averaging 13.9 points per game.

Tonight, we actually do like Georgia Tech to stay within the number at home. The Cardinals are the more talented team, but the recent drama hasn't helped their play -- they've dropped three of their past five -- and so we think the Yellow Jackets can keep this close.

Kansas Jayhawks vs. Kansas State Wildcats
There's definitely not going to be any love lost when in-state rivals Kansas and Kansas State go at it in Manhattan this evening. The Jayhawks are, of course, the favorites in the odds, but you better believe the Wildcats are going to get up for this game and will be doing everything in their power to pull off the upset for their home fans.

There's a reason the odds are where they are. The Wildcats have been on a terrible run recently, having dropped two straight and seven of their last eight overall. That's put them at 6-9 in conference play and a disappointing 13-15 overall. The two most recent defeats haven't even been close either, as they lost by 14 at TCU and then got murdered (69-42) by Baylor.

Kansas remains on top of the Big 12 with a 11-3 record (22-5 overall) and is coming off a nice 81-72 home win over TCU. The Jayhawks, following this road game in Manhattan, will close out the regular season by playing Texas and then West Virginia at home before closing things out with a tough road test against Oklahoma.

Where should we go with our sports picks tonight?

We'll once again be rolling with the home underdogs in this spot, as we're not all that impressed with Kansas' showings on the road this season. The crowd should be wild here, despite Kansas State's recent shortcomings, and we look for that energy to be the guiding force en route to a cover for the hosts. With little else to play for, this is pretty much the Wildcats' championship game against their biggest rivals, so take the points with your college basketball picks and hope for a close one.
