After a slow Sunday, the NCAA Basketball schedule has picked up and there's plenty more opportunity to make a profit. I've sifted through today's slate of games and I like what I see.

Elon (5-4) vs. Duke (8-0)
It's Going to Be Duke and Kentucky All Season Long
Is this really a surprise to anyone as these are clearly the two best teams in the country? If placed in the correct brackets, these teams could be facing eachother for an NCAA Title come April.

Right now, Duke is on a 114 game winning streak at Cameron Indoor Stadium against non-conference teams. The Blue Devils go for the jugular when they hear the voice of the Cameron Crazies. There's lots of pressure for Duke each and every game, but tonight, they get a bit of a break as they're a 32 point betting favorite in NCAA Basketball odds against the visiting Elon Phoenix.

Duke is known for taking on the best teams and the proof is in their last game as they discarded the then ranked #2 team in college basketball in the Wisconsin Badgers. It's been 12 days since this game was played and I expect the Blue Devils to feel refreshed and not rusty, coming into tonights game.

I watched the Duke-Wisconsin game and remembered that Rasheed Suliamon came up with the biggest bucket of the game, but This was Tyus Jones' night as he led the Blue Devils in scoring (22 points), assists (6) and rebounds (4) on 7 of 11 shooting from the field. Duke shot an amazing 65.2% from the field against one of the better defenses in the country in Wisconsin.

Shooting efficiency is the one thing, aside from talent, that really sticks out for this Blue Devils club. Jahlil Okafor, who is destined to be the #1 pick in the NBA Draft next season, is shooting 64.6 % from the field and the Blue Devils are 2nd in the nation at points (89.1), shooting %( 53.9%), and 3rd in assists in the nation (19).

If not for garbage time, oddsmakers could make the spread 40 and I would still like Duke with their mixture of veterans and top level freshman. There's such a disparity in talent in this game that Elon isn't worth mentioning as they're coming off of a loss to a 5-5 Missouri squad.

Appalachian State (3-3) vs. Georgia Tech (6-2)
They're Out of Their League
This is the case for the Mountaineers of Appalachian State as they're coming off of a very damaging 68-51 loss to the Hofstra Pride. Appalachian State is now expected to raise their game as they face the Yellow Jackets at McCamish Pavillion as a 17 point underdog in NCAA Basketball odds. Schedule makers have a lot of nerve as they set these cupcakes up to take a major fall and demoralize the aspirations of the team. In other words, it's very likely that the Mountaineers will get blown out and the only purpose for this game is betting.

Frank Eaves
The Mountaineers will rely on leading scorer, Frank Eaves, who averages 17 points per game on just 34.3% shooting from the field, to lead the way. Although the guard couldn't hit the side of a barn, he's unusually effective a drawing fouls for such a slight person at just 175 pounds. Look for Eaves to have an ineffective game as the difficulty of opponent is just too much for the Mountaineers in this spot.

South Carolina Upstate Spartans?
Georgia Tech doesn't have a definitive go to guy, but they have to things that win out in the end and that's great rebounding and a very deep squad to keep the players on the court fresh.

That said, Georgia Tech can't be feeling too good about themselves as they're coming off of a 59-54 loss to the South Carolina Upstate Spartans. I've never heard of the Spartans, but from an outsiders perspective, this can't be too good. One can only assume that the Yellow Jackets and leading scorer Marcus Georges - Hunt won't take Appalachian State lightly after their previous opponent and I expect the Yellow Jackets to vindicate themselves here.
