The Texas Longhorns are winless in Big 12 Conference play through four games, as they prepare to take on the Oklahoma Sooners at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman. Let’s take a closer look at the betting odds for this affair that will be featured on ESPN’s Big Monday.

Unable to hold on

Texas held an 11-point advantage with 15:22 remaining in the second half Saturday, but ultimately dropped a 64-59 decision to the Kansas Jayhawks as eight-point home underdogs, while going UNDER the posted total of 127. The Longhorns are now 1-5 in games decided by five points or less, which can’t be ignored when making your NCAA basketball picks Monday night

Bouncing back

Oklahoma had its season-high five-game win streak snapped in a 69-60 setback to the Kansas State Wildcats as seven-point road underdogs Saturday—despite making three more field goals than its opponent and winning the rebounding battle by a 39-24 margin. The Sooners are 5-1 against the spread (ATS) following a straight-up loss in their last six opportunities.

Dangerous underdog

Sports bettors should find the Longhorns as a dangerous underdog in this affair when checking out the NCAA basketball odds, considering they’ve covered the spread in four of the last five meetings in this series. Texas has won 13 of its last 15 games versus Oklahoma, including six straight wins. The program is also 3-2 ATS as a road underdog of 6.5 to 9 points over the last two-plus seasons.

Lack of playing time in Norman

The Sooners have played only seven home games this year, which is tied for the fewest of any of the 74 other teams in the six power conferences. Oklahoma has compiled a 7-0 ATS record in its last seven home games versus lined competition, which is something to consider when making your NCAA basketball picks. The squad has outscored opponents by a 73.3-to-58.3 margin when playing in Norman.

One of the key statistics to handicap in this Big 12 affair is turnovers, as Texas is averaging 13.5 over its last nine games, while Oklahoma was committing 10.7 on the year until giving it away 16 times versus Kansas State last time out. The Sooners loss to the Wildcats can be attributed to getting outscored by a 26-6 margin in points off turnovers.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Sooners as one of their sports picks Monday, as I believe the Longhorns will be flat in this affair after blowing a double-digit lead against the Jayhawks. Oklahoma also shoots 80.1 percent from the charity stripe at home, which is far better than Texas’ 64.7 mark on the road in that category.
