Ohio St. vs. Purdue (-11) 9:00 ET ESPN
Ohio St. travels to Purdue for the 7th game on the Big 10 schedule for each team. Last year, these 2 teams split narrow, home court victories with Purdue capturing a 2 point victory on this court (as a 1 point underdog), while Ohio St. squeezed out a 4 point win in Columbus. Today’s line points out how things have changed between these two, but it does not nearly account for that change or the home/road dichotomy that exists on these teams’ logs. As a result, we are backing the Purdue Boilermakers to snap their tie in the conference standings against an Ohio St. team, who entering this game has an identical 4-2 SU league mark with Purdue.

Under 12th year HC Matta, Ohio St. has won 24 or more games in 5 consecutive seasons. But, with just 2 RS this season, the Buckeyes were pegged for middle of the pack in the Big 10 standings. The main problem with this young team has been their performance on the road, as well as against quality teams. Warning shots were fired early in the season, when the Buckeyes lost 4 consecutive games to Texas-Arlington, LA Tech, Memphis and Virginia with all but the Memphis loss at home. But, the real telling sign has been when Ohio St. has gone on the road to face quality teams. In 3 such efforts, Ohio St. has lost (75-55) at UConn and in the last 10 days (85-50) in Indiana and (100-65) at Maryland. In those games, they lost to the pointspread by a combined 69 points. They are simply not to be trusted on the road against a quality team.

Betting Analysis
Purdue has one of their best teams in the tenure of 11th year HC Painter. Relative down years for the Boilers in the last 3 seasons have totaled just 52 victories. This year, however, with 4 RS and a powerful interior led by Haas and Hammonds, the Boilermakers are 16-3 SU, 11-4 ATS. On their home court, they stand 11-1 SU (only loss to Iowa) with all 11 of their home victories coming by 12 or more points! The 6-2 ATS record as home chalk includes victories by 17 over Michigan and 17 over Penn St. That record pushes the home favorite log of Painter to 76-49 ATS.
