Monmouth is one of the more entertaining teams this season; George Washington matches up with them well. NCAA basketball odds show both as underdogs. Which will advance in the NIT?

Odds makers have made George Washington a +3.5 underdog like at Bet DSI -110. For my NCAA Basketball picks today I'm going to back the Colonials because I look for them to take this game at the worst to the wire. All due respect to Monmouth this is a good George Washington team that will give them all they want tonight. Do not forget to check all the NCAA Basketball betting lines for this game before you place your bet.

George Washington Colonials
George Washington averages 75.4 points per game, shoots 36.7% from distance, and ranks 34th in the country allowing opponents only 32.4 rebounds per game. For the most part GW ranked in the middle the conference in most offensive categories in the Atlantic 10 but they did rank second in three-point shooting percentage. They also ranked third in offensive rebounds and forth in total rebounds in the league. They have played decently well on the road picking up wins at Virginia Commonwealth and Richmond and except for one bad home loss against St. Joseph's they were competitive and close in every game this season. Defensively they rank fifth in the league in overall opponent scoring and don't do anything particularly well on that side of the ball. What they do best though is defend from beyond the arc allowing opponents to shoot just 34.3% from distance which will be a point of contention tonight against a Monmouth team that shoots better-than-average from that range.

Monmouth Hawks
The Hawks average 79.7 point per game which ranks 24th in the country and defensively have allowed opponents to shoot just 39.2% from the field which ranks 11th in the country. When most people think of Monmouth they think about ESPN and their very animated bench. This team however is very good on both sides of the ball and they rank defensively 22nd and 24th in the country in opponent three-point shooting percentage and opponent effective field-goal percentage respectively. Offensively they rank in the top 30 averaging 61.2 field-goal attempts per game but with that pace they also allow tempo with opponents getting up 61.5 attempts per game. Even with the pace they have been a good defensive team as a percentages show but tonight George Washington might pose a few matchup difficulties for them especially on the boards. The common opponents doesn't give us a ton of information but it does a little like GW beating Army by 11 but Monmouth losing to them by seven and GW beating Rutgers by 34 and Monmouth beating them by six. Also, they both beat St. Peter's by about the same margin and lost to Dayton by about the same.
