College hoops are in full swing so let's take a look at a few of the more appealing options in our NCAAB odds.

Minnesota vs. Iowa

The Hawkeyes are well rested after their stunning victory over Ohio State as 6-point road dogs. They have now won and covered four of their last five games and head into this contest with a perfect 10-0 mark at home as they look to duplicate the 72-51 thrashing they doled out to the Gophers last season when they met at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Minnesota is 14-4 overall and 6-8-1 (there were three unlined games this season) against the number in men's NCAA basketball odds. Ironically, the Gophers last game was against the same team that the Hawkeyes defeated in their last contest, Ohio State. Minnesota hosted the Buckeyes and went on to a 63-53 victory as three-point home pups.

It seems to me these teams are closer than the online sportsbooks are reflecting in the lines being dealt this morning. I will back the Golden Gophers +9 ½ in a game that should be close right up until the end.

Virginia Tech vs. Notre Dame

It's not often you get the "privilege" of laying 10 points on a team that's in the midst of a three-game slide. But the bottom line is that the Irish are 9-3 straight up at home and are going to get all weepy-eyed tonight as they commemorate the team that snapped the unfathomable UCLA 88 game winning streak over 40 years ago.

Virginia Tech on the other hand is 1-3 on the highway and have lost and failed to cover the NCAA basketball odds in four of their last five games. This is also a team that is scoring almost seven points less per contest than Notre Dame and will have a difficult time defending an Irish squad that distributes the ball as well as any team in the country.

Tonight will be an emotional evening for fans of the Fighting Irish after they honor former head coach Digger Phelps and induct him into the Ring of Honor. I see a team that will win by a dozen points over this Hokies squad if they stay focused. To say they lay an egg with the backdrop of all this hoopla is tough for me to swallow.

Oregon State vs. Oregon

The Beavers may be 7-2 at home (3-3-1 ATS) but they have dropped three of their last four contests and currently sit near the bottom of the Pac-12 standings with a 1-3 conference record. Their overall record of 9-7 is a bit misleading particularly when one considers they have played the 113th ranked schedule in terms of difficulty. In other words, they are struggling to beat even the lousy teams.

The Oregon Ducks have played a much more difficult schedule (25th) and were headed for a lofty national ranking until they hit a handful of speed bumps in the form of losses to Colorado, California and Stanford. The latter two were losses at home in which they were favored by 6 ½ and 5 ½ points in NCAAB odds respectively. But this team has the players and the tools to do it all except rebound. They are 163rd in that department averaging a paltry 35 boards per game. However, this team has deadly shooting accuracy averaging over 49% from the floor led by Joseph Young, Mike Moser, Damyean Dotson and Jason Calliste.

Oregon has covered the number in five of the last six meetings between the two schools and are 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight road games. I believe the Ducks will get back on track in this intrastate rivalry and come away with the victory.
