The Temple Owls need a "W" & the next game on their schedule is the St. Joseph Hawks. While the Hawks have the better record, their schedule has been easier one. See who we like in this Sunday.

Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. EST this afternoon at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This game can also be seen on the CBS Network. According to 5 DImes Sportsbook, the Owls are getting the respect that they deserve as a 3.5 point betting favorite and the total for the game is listed at 140.5. I also think that this is a much more difficultgame for Temple, who doesn't want a losing record and St. Joe's is definitely a beatable basketball squad despite their 6-2 mark.

Where's the Effort?
Temple has had difficulties in beating Ivy League squads and the defense needs to step up in this game. This is a team that averages just 4 steals, 36 rebounds, 14 assists, 3 blocks, and 14 assists per game. These are all lousy numbers defensively and in order for the Owls to win, they need a solid effort on the offensive end to compensate for the lack of defense.

They haven't done themselves any favors by shooting a mere 40% from the field. This is a deep club that relies on their top 2 players in Quenton DeCosey (14.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, 48% from 3-point range) and Jaylen Bond (11.4 points, 7.8 rebounds), but they need someone else to step up as this is a team that contains great depth.

Josh Brown
His offensive numbers aren't huge at 6.6 points, 5.9 assists, 3 rebounds, and 1 block, but this is a point guard that receives a ton of minutes and if he plays well, Temple will handle St. Joseph's.

Brown' has actually stepped up as of late as he had an all-around solid effort in the victory over Penn in which he 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. Temple is a very selfish team except for Brown and he's getting all of the minutes. He played 38 minutes in his last game. That alone, shows the bettor the importance of having this young man on the court and I think that he's going to have another big game this afternoon as his opponent is overrated and he's the only person that can stop himself in this particular game.

Diffculty Of Oppoent
We have to remember that although the Hawks are an outanding 6-2, they're beating up on Ivy League schools such as Columbia and Princeton while they have more trouble facing SEC schools such as Florida. Can the Hawks beat a legitimate team such as the Temple Owls?

If there were any time to captialize, it would be now as the Owls have gotten beat up by the best schools in the country and their confidence level is at an all time low. This game is very even as indicated in the NCAA Basketball Odds. The pressure is certainly on Temple and if St. Joseph's can pick a win up here, it would be huge,

Work On the Inside
St. Joe's isn't a team that will beat Temple with their 3 point shooting. They will look to muscle up the Owls on the inside with their two leading scorers, Isaiah Miles (15.9 points, 7.1 rebounds. 2 blocks) and junior, DeAndre Bembry.

Bembry can do it all as he's averaging 15.8 points, 7.1 reobounds, 4.4 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 1.6 steals per game. He can play both ends of the court and basically do it all. I don't think that Temple has a player that can match up with Bembry and this is a definite advantage for the Hawks. Bembry has done it for his entire collegiate career. He's coming off of a monster 27 point, 10 rebound performance against Princeton and if he gives any sort of effort similar to that, the Hawks should be able to beat Temple on the road.

Make your NCAA Basketball Picks on the Hawks to pull off the semi-upset as they're catching Temple at the most opportune time.
