The Oklahoma State Cowboys cashed their second straight ticket at NCAAB betting windows, spanking the South Florida Bulldogs in Monday’s 93-67 victory. Travis Ford’s squad remains in the “Sunshine State,” opening Thursday’s Old Spice Classic against the Purdue Boilermakers.
Cowboys, Brown cruise in Tampa
Oklahoma State shot 50 percent from South Florida’s floor, including a stellar 9-for-16 from three-point land. Cowboys mates Markel Brown and Marcus Smart united for 25 points each, sinking 10-of-13 free throws.
Brown added team-highs of eight boards and seven assists, while recording three of his side’s nine blocks. Oklahoma State’s Brian Williams logged three steals en route to 13 points, with the Cowboys outrebounding South Florida, 40-34.
The lopsided affair’s 160 points flew OVER the ‘total’ of 150 ½, despite Oklahoma State holding USF to 39 percent field shooting. Cowboys forward Kamari Murphy came up scoreless in 18 minutes of action, while he and his mates collected as 9 ½-point road favorites.
Boilermakers, Scott edge Siena
Purdue stayed unbeaten with Sunday’s 81-73 victory over the Siena Saints, while falling short of cashing as 18 ½-point home ‘chalk.’ Boilermakers freshman Bryson Scott came away with a team-high 16 points, knocking down 5-of-10 floor shots off the bench.
Scott’s mates Ronnie Johnson and Terone Johnson logged three assists each, while uniting for 29 points. Purdue’s A.J. Hammons recorded six of his team’s 12 blocks, while draining 8-of-12 free throws.
UNDER backers sweated the final stretch, with the battle’s combined 154 points ducking beneath the ‘total’ of 158. Purdue outrebounded the Saints, 42-40, with Boilermakers forward Errick Peck grabbing a season-high 11 boards.

Back the Cowboys as ‘chalk’
Bet365 opened the college basketball odds for Oklahoma State as a 13 ½-point favorite, with early wagers on the Cowboys lifting the number a ‘hook’ to 14. The winning team advances to Friday’s semifinals against either the Butler Bulldogs or Washington State Cougars.
I am laying the points with Oklahoma State here as part of Thursday’s college basketball picks, looking for the Cowboys to put this one away early.
OSU has held foes to 62.5 PPG through its first five contests, racking up sizable victories even with their recent steps up in class. Marcus Smart ranks second in the Big 12 Conference for scoring with 21 PPG, while he (4.2 SPG) and Brian Williams (2.2 SPG) are the group’s top duo in steals.
Purdue has yet to play away from home, while overvalued with a 1-2 ATS mark in its first three ‘board’ battles. The Boilermakers should see few chances down the stretch for a ‘back door’ cover, ranking a lowly 10th in the Big Ten’s dozen squads for three-point shooting (31.1 percent) and dead last in connecting from the foul line (62.3 pecent).
Purdue logged a 0-4 spread record through all of its neutral-site affairs last season, while going 0-6-1 ATS in its seven spots as an underdog of 7 ½ points or more. Look for the Boilermakers to fall well short again here, adding another losing ticket to their 3-8 ATS mark in their last 11 non-conference affairs.
