Will the Friars stay hot at the betting windows here or can Syracuse cover as double-digit ‘chalk?’ Find out how to place your money on your college basketball picks in this one.

The Providence Friars are riding a streak of four straight wins, holding their opposition to 55.5 PPG en route to a 4-0 spread record. Ed Cooley’s troops step up in class with Wednesday’s matchup against the No. 8 Syracuse Orange, who are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 meetings with Providence.

Orange, Triche top Seton Hall

Syracuse came away with a 76-65 victory as an 8 ½-point NCAAB odds favorite in Saturday’s win over the Seton Hall Pirates on the road, despite being held to 38.7 percent field shooting. The Orange out-rebounded Seton Hall, 37-29, while hitting 20-of-29 free throws.

Orange guard Brandon Triche logged a season-high 29 points, with a dozen coming from a 4-for-7 night beyond the arc. Syracuse’s C.J. Fair picked up his second double-double in four games, finishing with 19 points and 11 boards.

The contest’s combined 141 points leaped above the ‘total’ of 130 ½, moving the OVER to 2-1 in Syracuse’s latest trio of matchups. Triche added a team-high five assists, while recording two of his squad’s seven steals.

Friars, Batts pull away from Irish

Providence’s latest triumph came with Saturday’s 71-54 triumph over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish cashing as a two-point home favorite. The Friars connected from the floor at a 44.6 percent clip, while holding Notre Dame to a 1-for-14 mark from three-point land.

Friars mates Kadeem Batts and Bryce Cotton notched a combined 39 points, knocking down 18-of-30 field buckets. Providence’s Vincent Council logged a season-high 11 assists, while he and his mates edged out Notre Dame in boards, 39-29.

The battle’s 125 points ducked beneath the ‘total’ of 133, making the UNDER 3-1 in the Friars’ last four games. Providence sank 5-of-9 free throws, while Josh Fortune and Lee Goldsborough united for the team’s sole two blocks.

Back Syracuse as home ‘chalk’ opened Syracuse as a 12 ½-point home favorite, with the number holding steady after early wagers were mixed. The ‘total’ was first posted at 134, lifting quickly to 136 thanks to initial betting action on the OVER.

I am adding Syracuse to my night of basketball picks, looking for the Orange to hold Providence to some tight numbers here.

Syracuse has allowed a stingy 54.8 PPG in its five home dates of Big East Conference play, notching a 3-2 ATS mark in that span.  Michael Carter-Williams leads the Big East in assists (8 APG) and steals (3.1 SPG), while mate Rakeem Christmas ranks as one of the conference’s top three shot blockers (2.1 BPG).

The latest affair for the Orange at Carrier Dome saw Fair and Co. log a 77-58 victory as 13 ½-point ‘chalk’ over the St. John’s Red Storm. Syracuse drained 10-of-22 buckets beyond the arc as part of a 53.7 percent day from the field.

Syracuse has a 4-1 spread record in its last five meetings hosted against the Friars, including a 2-1 ATS mark in the span’s three affairs as a double-digit favorite. Look for the Orange to hold serve at home in this spot, giving Providence a tough night of finding the rims.
