Penn State vs. Indiana
Right now the Hoosiers are favored by 25.5 points, with 26 also there for the taking if you like the Nittany Lions to cash as underdogs. So far this season Indiana is 9-7 ATS and Penn State is 6-8 ATS.
A total of 138 can be found on the college basketball odds board, with the UNDER having cashed in 10 of the last 11 meetings between these conference foes. The UNDER has also hit in four of the Hoosiers' past five matchups overall heading into tonight.
Penn State Nittany Lions
The Nittany Lions have been brutalized in conference play so far, having lost all six of their games. Four of those came at home and they lost big to Wisconsin and Purdue on the road.
Over the weekend Penn State played host to Nebraska and ended up losing 68-64 as four-point favorites.
As a team the Nittany Lions shot 38.6 overall and 25.0 percent from three. Jermaine Marshall (18 points on 5-of-16 shooting) and D.J. Newbill (11 points, seven rebounds, six assists) were the only players to score in double figures.
This is very young Penn State squad and there's going to be a lot of growing pains until this group grows up. It doesn't help that the Nittany Lions have been without Tim Frazier since he injured his Achilles' in November. Frazier led the team with 16.2 points per game.
Offensive efficiency has been a problem all season long for Penn State, but it's been even worse as of late. They're averaging a brutal 56.6 points per contest over their last five, and the fact they're putting up just 46.5 PPG away from home doesn't instill much confidence either.
Five days after a tough home loss to Wisconsin, the Hoosiers bounced back with a 67-59 road win over Northwestern. Entering that matchup Tom Crean's team was favored by 12 points.
Indiana jumped out to a 31-17 by halftime, but then had to fight tooth and nail in the second stanza to preserve the win. In a contest that featured good decision-making (12 total turnovers between the two teams) and sound defense, the Hoosiers proved superior.
A lot of the credit for the win should go to Cody Zeller, who was terrific. He finished with 21 points on 6-of-11 shooting and added 13 rebounds. Meanwhile, Christian Watford came through with 14 points and six rebounds and Jordan Hulls (15 points) also made a difference.
After that tough test on the road, it'll be nice to return home, where they're 11-1 SU.
Despite covering the spread in only one of their last six games, the Hoosiers have been making good money for thier basketball betting backers when playing at home in Bloomington. They're 7-3 ATS inside Assembly Hall on the season.
College Basketball Pick
These teams have already met up once this season and it wasn't pretty. The Hoosiers were dominant in every facet in a 74-51 victory.
Indiana shot 52.4 percent and held Penn State to 31.7 percent shooting on their own floor. It was easy as pie for the Hoosiers, who raced out to a 17-point lead by halftime and cruised to the win from there.
Are we in for a repeat performance tonight?
We believe so. Simply put, the Nittany Lions don't really do anything well. They score just 62.2 points per game, while the Hoosiers are flying high at 84.4 PPG. At home, those numbers are even better, with Indiana averaging an impressive 89.6 PPG on 52.4 percent shooting overall.
Assuming Indiana doesn't have a complete meltdown, we see no reason why they can't blow Penn State out of the water and cover. Yes, even though the spread is approaching 26 points. Good luck!
